I HATE Wood being sent down.

You've been our best pitcher of late but we're going to send you down.

Reason.....to have an additional player available as they were going to skip Wood's next start. But Wood is going to start in the minors and if all goes well he'll be back up the 19th.

They are going to rest his arm by pitching him in the minors on his scheduled day????? Minor league innings don't count as pitches and arm wear?

Why didn't they send down Leake when he was skipped? How has Leake done since he was skipped (2 worst starts of the season) Leake has never been in the minors.....Wood worked his way out.....and then was not only formidable...but has been exceptional.

We won't bring Chapman up for fear something negative might happen.....but send our best starting pitcher of late down.

Teams always worry about a guy being brought up and then failing.....but how is sending down Wood (for any reason) going to affect Wood...he's a tough little dude but he won;t experience the intense playoff-like series with the Cardinals, he won't be with his team but traveling with a minor league team AND he's going to use his arm in the minors and someone like Homer Bailey might start in his place.......to me this is over thinking the situation. Wood could not have been more comfortable where he was at.....so we move him for reason of resting him....but yet he's going to play.

Wouldn't say it's a must win but it would really help their confidence going forward knowing they can beat the Cardinals. Just no 5-6 run Innings early and let the offense do what they've been doing since the All-Star Break and come away with a 6-2 Victory tonight.

Is Wood really going to pitch his schedule start in Louisville? If so, I hate this move also. It's one thing to send them down to rest them (basically like putting them on the DL for 10 days or so), it's another if they are going to pitch. That makes no sense to me. I think Leake was the pitcher that needed the 10 days off to rest his arm more so than Wood.

Big game today..............like others have said we need to answer.

Reds haven't let me down when I go this year (5-0), so they should no doubt win tonight. :)

Dusty is going all righty against the left handed Garcia. It's odds over skill, the Dusty way.

I think Ramon should get the start after playing well last night, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Dusty put a hot bat on the bench.

No one is falling for it (well at least i'm not)..it just wasn't really funny, wasn't a joke, and was completely random.

I particularly liked the "LaRussa-ball" tactic of batting the pitcher eighth. A nice touch!

If you are counting me as "falling for it" you are wrong. I saw it as a joke right away and it prompted me to post my prediction without mentioning it being a joke(which I had thought about). The tips to it being a joke is Rolen playing first and Hernandez playing 3rd, and the pitcher batting 8th like LaRussa does. And by the way I very much like that LaRussa-ism. In sharpness, LaRussa is head and shoulders above Dusty.

With 6 outfielders for the time being, Dusty can easily go all right handed or all left handed out there, and with the infielders all righty except for Votto and Francisco, all Dusty would have to do for a completely all righty line-up would be to bench Votto and put Cairo there, or play both catchers with Hernandez at 1st.

Hanigan should play today as Hernandez is 4/7 off of Wainright....and no one else really hits him.....but Dusty likes Arroyo/Hanigan....so we'll see

I looked at that lineup above and had to double check the time to make sure Dusty hadn't been doing drugs. Rolen at 1st....awesome
