mlb network, they talk about the Reds pretty much every night

We will need those three games and more. If we win two out of three, that would be nice, but as some of you know, I don't have much confidence when one of my teams crosses the California border. A three game lead can disappear as if by magic in three days. Like has already been said, we need to play the very best ball we are capable of but no matter what happens, we need to remember that there is a lot of baseball to be played and we are right in the middle of a great pennant chase.

I agree Dave you can't under value head to head matchups. If we take 2/3 I think that will keep the confidence high. Getting swept and then going out West could really demoralize this team. Hope I'm wrong, we just don't play well out west so 2/3 is big in my opinion.

Yeah we go out west, and St. Louis has a 10 game home stand against losing teams..followed by 6 away games against the Pirates and Nationals....great.

I look for a low scoring series here, as the Redbirds will send their aces against the Reds. While this isn't what I would consider a "must win" series, 2 of 3 or a sweep by the Cards will put the Reds in a tough spot, with that West Coast swing coming up and the Redbirds looking at a nice homestand.

How many intentional walks will Pujols receive this week? Dusty may be crazy, but he's not stupid.

No matter what happens the Reds have answered almost everytime they've need to this season....guys like Rolen, Cabrera, Arroyo, Cueto have just put the team on their backs and made sure small negatives didn't turn into something bigger.

Is Phillips a go tonight? We need him to play with a chip on his shoulder and to get things started.

I like the lineup. I'd guess either Fisher, Smith, Gomes, or Stubbs gets sent packing. Gomes doesn't have options though and Stubbs just had a huge game.

Fisher or Stubbs would be my guess. Gomes isn't going anywhere, and Smith has been pretty damn good.

Shit forgot about Francisco, Edmonds can play 1B in a bind so I be he goes and Cairo can still start at 3b with Rolen off.

I would not be surprised if Gomes isn't on the 25man an Aug 31st unless he turns it around.

Didn't Edmonds just have to avoid the field recently for his achilles tendon? I know if he can touch it he'll catch it and he'll get and A+ jump.....but am not sure how well he can still play CF

God Chris Welsh will have a tent all game.

Yep he did, that's why I don't get the center field thing either. I'd put Nix out there over Edmonds. Oh well, if he gets hurt they have other options just not a true LH CF now. If he helps win 1 of these 3 games the signing will be worth it IMO.

Travis Wood optioned to Triple-A Louisville to make room for Edmonds...... With two off days upcoming, Reds don't need 5 starters it appears

sending down your best pitcher and only lefty sounds like a solid move.

Fuck the Reds.....I understand it . but it's just idiotic.....let's send down Votto on his off day.

Wood is a big league ballplayer....I wouldn't make him go down for any reason whatsoever.

Apparently Wood will/should be back up to pitch on the 19th

I don't care the reasoning.......send him down but let him stay there with his teammates that wouldn't be in 1st place without him
