You guys act as if OSU is the only team in the country playing a bad team in their OOC schedule lol

Now that I think about, ND should schedule bad OOC teams...god knows they could use the wins.

well they do play Army..

Actually I look for them to schedule some MAC teams in the future, especially since Rob Ianello is now the coach at Akron.

Alabama plays Georgia State, Florida plays Miami (Oh), Texas play Florida Atlantic, Boise State plays in the WAC, Notre Dame plays Army....So Ohio State is not the only team that plays a shitty OOC schedule.

At least Michigan will feel like they played in a bowl game that year.

karen lotz;445794 wrote:Yes it was a joke. Although it might have been a bad one. Just looked at OSU's future schedules. Akron is on the schedule in 2011 along with Toledo and BG. Its Miami OH in 2012

along with a home and home against Cal in 2012, 2013; VaTech 2014, 2015; Oklahoma 2016, 2017; Tenn 2018, 2019. tOSU has been consistently playing MAC teams since 97 so their future matchups should not come as a surprise. At the very least give them credit for scheduling big OOC games 9 years out

Notre Dame filled their last open date for this season with Western Michigan and a lot of people are not happy about it. This will be the first game between ND and the MAC. The game was scheduled in late October 2009 as a last resort to fill the schedule.

I do give them credit for those big games. Just like the Texas, USC, and Miami series. But they can do better than MAC teams and bowl championship sub division games.

Unfortunately, I think you will stop seeing OSU schedule these big OOC games once Delaney switches it to a 9 game conference schedule instead of just 8.

This.

I really don't like the whole new Big Ten thing.

That would be dumb IMO. Are three MAC level or worse teams going to prepare the team for Big Ten games? I hate the fact that ND is playing Tulsa and WMU this year and with some of the other teams on the schedule recently. Army I don't have an issue with because of the history between the two schools. Swarbrick has been working at getting the schedule back to where it was. Kevin White was a moron and played just as big of a part in Notre Dame's recent struggles as Tyrone and Chuck.

Disagree. I think the brass at Ohio State knows the value of playing big OOC games (BCS points, recruiting salvo, national recognition) and will continue to value such games over gimme MAC teams. Bottom line, when it comes to giving subpar regional teams a monetary handout vs performance enhancing wins for a BCS shot, tOSU will always choose the latter.

On the other hand, this will change once/if a playoff system is adopted.

I'd say playing 3 games against MAC schools does one heck of a job preparing Ohio State for Big Ten games. FYI Ohio State has won the past 5 Big Ten Titles with a 36-4 record in Big Ten games. Just goes to show how little you know outside of ND.

ok all knowing one, which of those past 5 seasons included 3 MAC schools and no big OOC game? Not only do you know nothing outside of OSU, you know very little about OSU.

OSU has Cal 2012-2013, Va Tech 2014-2015, Oklahoma 2016-2017, and Tennessee 2018-2019. I guess we will have to wait and see who they start scheduling in terms of potential big name schools starting in 2020.

So this would mean games at ND, at OSU, and basically a road game against Bama in 2012. Hopefully that will be a fun season.

Michigan schedules a cupcake every year. We call them Notre Dame.

Might wanna schedule a cupcake that they can beat all the time then. The series, overall and as of late, is pretty even. Of course, Appy State was supposed to be the ultimate cupcake too......

Enough of that......UM, even with their recent slide, is a huge draw. This game makes sense.

i lol'd.

i love the buckeyes as much as the next guy, but are they seriously trying to qualify for the MAC title? next year they play 3 MAC schools (i think). I don't mind them playing some cupcakes every year, but don't tell me you're trying to schedule quality oppenents, then make the calls and line up Akron, Toledo, and BGSU.
