I'm sorry, but I think that there is valuable technology out there that we'll never see b/c big oil won't let it happen.
I have worked for and with the EPA on many projects and have worked with companies who have patents on technologies that can and do turn trash into liquid fuels similar to ethanol.
I am not wrong on this, you can throw your "Big Oil" scare tactic out there all you want, I've actually WORKED on these technologies in a research and development situation.
Trust me, its not Big Oil that shuts down trash to fuel plants, its the EPA people who have no idea what the plant actually does. They just assume because trash comes in and fire is involved at one point or another (just to heat things up, not to burn the trash) it has to be a trash incinerator.
However, don't let facts get in the way of your biased opinions. I have worked on these technologies and watched first hand the EPA shut them down, have you worked in the BioFuels world?
And please, about Big Oil, you know that the biggest private investor in biofuels is "Big Oil"? The first thing they would do if a viable (aka profitable) biofuel actually came about, is buy it and then sell it to us like they do oil.
