Who exactly knows what was said. I am not denying Matta didn't "offer" him some way. I don't know the exact rule. But obviously with all these young players making verbals so early, its pretty common across the board they are being offered in some way.

At that point, its up to the kid/parents to do what they want.

If you don't think Roy doesn't do this as well, your just kidding yourself. And there is nothing wrong with it. Its the day and age of whats going on in recruiting. No question about it.
