What are your pet peeves? Here are a few of mine:

- Cold gyms: I don't know if anyone else has this problem at their gym, but for some reason my gym likes to set the temp at about 68 degrees and blast the fans. During the winter time it is hard to even tell the difference of temperature from the outside. It might be the wrestler in me, but I hate working out in the cold (with the fans on is even worse). I just don't see the point in working out if you aren't trying to break a sweat.

- Lifting weights in cut offs: I am sure some posters here will disagree, but I think its dumb. Do the sleeves get in the way while lifting or something? 95% of the people who lift at gyms are typically males, so who are you trying to impress anyway?

- Using the gym as a social playground: This is pretty self explanatory. These people typically only get in about 5-10 minutes of activity during a whole hour stay at the gym. You can find these people trying to woo others of the other sex.

- Walking around nude in the locker room: I realize its a locker room, but at least give a courtesy towel wrap up. No one wants to look at that shit.

Actually lifting in sleeves annoys the shit out of me. Cut off is a must at the gym, IMO. If you don't like it suck on these balls....

Never thought about that. What about the unnecessary fans then?

I don't like sleeves when lifting either. A lot of sleeves dig into my arm pits and drives me nuts.

I actually started this same thread back in January. I agree with your comments, however.

Haha nice list. Even funnier the first person to reply is the same person who was first to reply on this thread and say the exact same thing.

I have issues with the 300lb guys that are mostly fat but dominate the bench press benches... spend close to half an hour on there and most of it is just chatting up between sets and doing a set like every 7-8 minutes.

I prefer cold gyms to hot gyms. Your reasoning is flawed to think that the point of a workout is to sweat. Sweating is just a system to keep your body from overheating when doing extensive workouts. Unless you are trying to shed water weight or trying to get used to working out in hot places there really isn't a huge benefit to working out in hot conditions. The point of working out is to get your blood flowing, calories burning, muscles hurting etc.... sweating is just often a by-product.

I have no problem with having a conversation with someone at a gym... or even meeting people at a gym. I've met girls and guys of all ages at the gym... apparently people like to come up and talk to me. I only have a problem with people holding a bench or machine while having a conversation if it is during a busy time.

As far as nudity in the locker room... it's a locker room. People are naked in there, get used to it. You're no longer 9 years old.

1. I don't understand the heavy squatters. Why do you want to squat 450 lbs at the age of 33, if not a competitive lifter?

2. Guys that have to yell to get that extra push. I get people need to make noises when exerting, but there are always the guys who get carried away.

3. Guys who use 2-3 different machines/benches while doing a cycle and get pissed if someone tries to work in.

4. Trainers who obviously need to do some training themselves.

Regarding sleeves, I think it's much more comfortable without sleeves. I hardly ever wear a shirt with sleeves in the summer at the gym, around the house or outdoors.

I don't wear sleeves when I play sports or work out. I'm not sure it has anything to do with showing off, I just prefer it.

The 300 lb guy on the bench is also the same guy who wears a weight belt that has something like "Big Dawg" or "The Bull" written in marker. He also is the screamer, the barker, etc. Complete db.

I have no problem with people chatting. It's the people who spend an hour in the gym of which only five is used for a workout. I also don't like the guy who spends his time picking up chicks. He is usually the guy who is talking to them while they are doing a set. Inevitably, he thinks he always has to "help" with the last rep with a spot to how nice of a guy he is. Note to the perv: stay away from the ladies as they are spreading their legs on the abductor machine.

I too have no problem with the nudity in the locker room. It happens.

I like nudity in the locker room. I like looking at other penises because I'm extremely gay, and like penises.

Wait... Is this the gay pride thread? Oops... Nevermind. Stupid queers!

I've got no problem with nudity in the locker room, but at my old gym there was a guy who would sit naked on the sink and clip his toe nails. That was going to far.

Sweating also helps you release your toxins. There are plenty of benefits for sweating, it is actually good for you. I wasn't saying the point of working out is to sweat, I was simply saying if you don't want to sweat then don't work out, as most people who work out normally sweat. Besides that I just hate the feeling of a cold sweat coming down because it feels like the winter with 30 mph winds in the gym.

I also don't see the problem with socializing as long as you are getting your work out done. I was referring to the people who only probably get 5 minutes combined of activity in.

As for nudity its not so much people being naked, as i said i understand its a locker room, however some people just get carried away with it as Fathobbit has pointed out.

I also agree about the guys who have to yell at the top of their lungs for the last couple reps. Sounds like a "look at me lifting" call.

1. Asian guys in Seattle walking around naked in the locker rooms
2. 350 pound fatties that only lift weights
3. Girls in tight outfits who just walk around the gym, don't really even work out.
4. Guys who throw the weights on the floor after they are done
5. Guys that flex and stare in the mirror
6. Guys that grunt VERY loud while lifting

I can handle the nudity in the lockeroom, but when some dude strikes up a conversation in the shower that goes too far.

People who bring cell phones to the gym and text and talk on it while resting between sets...on the machine.
The guy who complains loudly that they need bigger dumbells.

I don't have a problem with the cut off ( I go with t-shirt ) but don't wear the 1989 tank tops.
As far as nudity I don't have a problem with it but don't be that guy that wants to hang out in the locker room naked. I once came in from a workout this guy was naked talking to a another guy trying to leave. I sat in the Sauna for 10 min took a shower got dressed and walked out the door. The guy was still naked talking to someone else.

The only pet peeve i have really built is when people put on a shit ton of weight, do 1-2 reps, then are done and walk around like a badass..especially right after u get off the machine like they trying to make u look bad..Also, I dont care if your naked in the locker room..just dont have your junk facing me, when I turn my head or notice you, I'd rather not see your dick.

mattinclown...you've got to be kidding about your girl comment.
