Gomes read that ball horribly but will probably end up with a web gem.....

He made the big catch and that is all that matters.

Defense on right side of IF has missed two plays that could've been made....but no runs have resulted

Arroyo's stellar day is done after 105 pitches, 7 innings, 5 hits, no runs, and one walk on which the ump missed the call on the 3-2 pitch. But the best part of Bronson's day was his pitching with runners on, especially the 2nd and 3rd with no out in the 5th, when he used up 21 of his pitches to escape that inning, and then handling the lead-off misplay by Votto in the 7th.

shocking Gomes swings at the first pitch

Hitting coach Brook Jacoby mentioned about swinging at that first pitch to avoid getting down 0-1....but so many of our players swing at every first pitch and then are down 0-1 when they would be up 0-1. The approach has merit but you have to know where the hell the strike zone is and adjust when you have a pitcher without great stuff

Same two guys missed plays very similar to that in Pittsburgh!

Not like Rhodes to pull a "Cordero" and walk the lead-of hitter with a 3 run lead. But he doesn't - gets PH Baker to put it in play on the 3-1 pitch - would have been 3-2 if he took it.

Jesus after reading the last page of this thread you'd think the reds were down 13 runs.

Surely with the wind blowing in Cordero won't nibble too much and pitch inside too!
