Vandy is the worst team in the SEC by far. NW is a middle of pack Big10 team who went to a bowl game (lost to Auburn). What are you going to measure with this game?

Going into this year, yes the B10 is right on par with the SEC. You can't deny the strong finish from the B10 last year and a majority of the top teams (OSU/Iowa/Wisky) bring back a ton of talent. We just need UM to right the ship because their a big name that shouldn't be playing like this.

I fully expect OSU, Iowa, and Wisconsin to be in the Top 10 throughout the year.

Not sure I would say they are on par. What seperates the SEC IMO, is what has seperated them from others, ONE team, the top team, Bama. Obviously the SEC has had the top team in the country the past 4yrs. That is flat out the major difference. And until someone unseats that team...then they still have the bragging rights, and rightfully so.
Determining who is better after that, team by team...will be nothing but a bias debate by both conference fans. Never be settled.

I think he's saying the following isn't quite up to what they accomplished with Tebow.

2005 9-3

Granted, that was with Ron Zook lol, but I think that's the incorrect logic he's using.

FWIW, Florida is still going to be very good this year, and definitely has the ability to knock of Alabama for the SEC crown.

And yes, Fla should be good. How good is yet to be determined. Load of talent, but A LOT of inexperienced talent. I see 2/3 loss season.

Hey now, I'm not forgetting haha. Everyone has down years, and Florida was just going through an outflux of talent along with inexperience in '07-'08.

What's lucky for Florida is the rest of the SEC is relatively unexperienced as well, which means there are going to be a ton of games where the talent makes a huge difference, but also some games where you shake your head and you're like "wtf?"

Happened with OSU last year against Purdue.

lsu will not be in the top 4 in the SEC and if they are, they will win it. their schedule is almost unfair how hard it is.

that said, the SEC is top to bottom better than the B10. but at the top, the B10 is not as big a pushover as people seem to think. the main disconnect is with teams like illinois and indiana, who are down even by their own standards (not trying to slight them, but IU's standards aren't as high as OSU's). I'd put the top 4 B10 schools against any conference and like my chances. wouldn't be shocked at anything except 0-4 and 4-0.

No, what separates them is the huge difference in BCS winning percentages, bowl game winning percentages, and multiple teams with titles and two of them with 2 titles a piece in the BCS era. That's what separates them from other leagues.

You literally just made his point. All of what you just mentioned falls EXACTLY in line with his logic: that the best team in the country usually comes from the SEC, but after that the rest of the conference is debatable with any other conference.

BCS, BCS, BCS, that's all about the top team in the league, exactly what CBF was talking about.

SEC has won 73.7% of their BCS appearances, compared with 47.6% for the Big 10. Only two conference have lower BCS winning percentages than the Big 10 (Big 12 and ACC, with Notre Dame as an Independant being 0 for 3). The SEC is also 6-0 in BCS National Championship games. No other conference is even above 33%.

Spin it how you choose, you will anyways. Bowl games are so much about matchups, not necessarily the best "conference" teams wins. Was the Mountain West better then the SEC two years ago when Utah spanked Bama? NO
Was the WAC better then the Big12 when Boise St upset Okl?? NO

And why only use BCS games? There have been national title games prior to that. I know why, because it fits YOUR arguement the best. Come on, you know better then this.

And just because ND was in the BCS, doesn't mean they were better then others who weren't in the BCS. The BCS is FLAWED big time in many area's. The best teams are NOT always in the BCS games. Thats quite obvious each and every year.

Using bowl games, or BCS as the major factor in determining the best conference is as poor an arguement as using the NCAA tourny as a measuring stick. Both are VERY subjective.

We ALL KNOW the SEC has been the best conference. We DO NOT NEED it shoved down our throats (major inssue here) each and very week by INSECURE SEC fans. Get over your own issues.

They CAN send 2, but they don't every year. The point I'm making is that your post is extremely irrelevant towards the point you're trying to prove and much more geared towards CBF argument which is that the top of the SEC is the best or near the best every year while the 2/3-12 spots are debatable in each conference as to who's better.

No one's saying the #1 SEC team isn't the best, which everyone can agree with, or at least should, but using the BCS as a barometer simply doesn't prove your point AT ALL.

That gives the Big Ten four of the top six winningest teams of all time.
where was florida before tebow? didnt they win a national title with chris leaks and one with danny weurful? has the big ten caught up with the sec? hell no. the sec has slipped a little and came back to the pack in some regards, but they are still the top dog. OSU will once again dominate the big ten. but put them in the sec and they couldnt win conference.

The Big Ten has sent 21 teams to BCS Bowl games, the SEC has sent 19. The Big Ten has 11 schools the SEC has 12. In even the playing field include new member Nebraska and the differential is 23 to 19. The Big Ten has sent 7 different schools the SEC has sent 5 different schools. The Big Ten record in BCS Bowls is 11-13, the SEC record is 14-5.

Since the BCS Bowl system has been created The Big has proven to have more quality depth than the SEC. The SEC has have proven to have more quality at the top.

There's something to be said for a conference that has produced 4 different BCS National Champions and #5 team Auburn getting screwed with an undefeated season, and #6 team Georgia going 13-1. Don't forget they would have been playing Miami instead of OSU in 2002, if it weren't for the Gators beating them. That's the difference between the SEC and any other conference. When you constantly have a couple elite teams, the rest of the conference teams can't have any slip ups or they are looking at a 9-4 season like LSU last year, who is then considered to be mediocre. There is no conference that can match those top 6 SEC teams on a consistant year to year basis.
