How did Favre start this? He didn't send the text to anyone at a news outlet. He sent a text to his friends. Imagine if you were held to every random txt you sent to a friend.

I could see if the word retirement came out of Favre's mouth and to ESPN or some other source but it didn't. And ESPN went balls out anyway.

Assuming he sent the "this is it" text, he started it. As soon as ESPN ran with this, he should have clarified what the text meant, if to no one else to the people he texted. No need to let people go on and on for over a day about something you sent that wasnt true.

Well maybe he was out in the back yard playing a game of 2 hand touch football in wranglers and wasn't glued to ESPN. He might not have known it was going on.

How does that help the ESPN situation?

I completely blame ESPN for running with this retarded story, but Brett could have easily put this to bed yesterday...after about 5 minutes of coverage. He waited until today.
