Anyone have any recommendations on anyone who does driveway sealing in Columbus? I think it's one of the shadier occupations out there so I'm leary of yellowbook searching.

I've had americoat do it in the past. I have been happy with them but I have a neighbor who is happy to do it himself.

What is your definition of a shady occupation? If your that concerned it's not that hard to do yourself. I believe you could have left your stereotypical arrogance out of your original post.

Do it yourself ...... time (maybe 2 hours for a double wide driveway 60 feet long) and 24" broom floor brush

Save yourself a ton of money

Sealing your driveway is not rocket sciences ...... look at the people that do it ….

Are they really smarter that you … or are you just lazy….

I did my grandparent drive way when I was 12 years old with the help of my grandpa

Clean a sweep off the driveway, wet it down with a hose, start early in the morning, start from the house a work you way to the street, just need a thin layer finish at the street and block off your driveway for 24 hours ……

It’s like painting a wide board with a broom that your standing on just stay within the lines….

If you are incpable of doing this yourself, there probably isn't much you can do for yourself around the house.

...I agree with belly. I've done mine for years and it's not that tough.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and tell them how wide and how long your driveway is and they can help you with the number of 5gal containers you'll need + the squeegee to apply it with. There are different types of driveway sealers with guarantees up to ten years, but my experience is that most last no longer than 2, so plan on doing it every other year for sure.

I need to get this done too. I know someone who does it, and I think with a call he will do it for free. If not, I'll probably try to do it myself unless he gives me a favorable price.

Americoat does the typical suburban driveway for 55 bucks. I'd rather save myself the hassle and pay them. My parents drive is 75 in material or 100 for americoat to do it, once again, not worth it

AMERICOAT wanted $85.00 to do my driveway. It is about 12x60. I bought two cans of sealer and an applicator at The Andersons for $25.00 and paid a neighborhood kid $25.00 to apply the sealer. I've done it myself in the past, but the kid asked for a job and I gave it to him.It took him about 1 1/2 hours to get it done.

The Andersons Wow I have not heard that name in a long time. When I lived in Perrysburg the wife and I would go to Anderson for just about everything. Half of my older tools are from Andersons. Putout many a gain mill fire over there in the late 70 / early 80's.

two of my bestfriends do this together in the summers to make money for college..theyve done it for 3-4 years now so theyre pretty experienced...and give out free estimates, they are called Paw Pavement...shoot me a PM if you want a number to reach them at so they can give you an estimate...they usually are a tiny bit more expensive than americoat, but the sealer they use is of much higher quality and lasts longer

I just got a $ 400 quote from americoat... seems high from quotes on here..... How many cars wide and long is your driveway that you've had done.
My drive is two cars wide and about three cars long....

I've done it myself before and it's pretty easy. Maybe a little messy. I wouldn't be scared to go with Belly's advice at all.
