With the Reds win, the Phillies gained a game on the Braves and cut it back to 2 1/2 games

They didn't have to take anyone off, now it is full though.

Was Bruce hustling after that ball in the 9th that Heyward took a double on???? I think we got our pocket picked again....at an atrocious time

He gave it the normal effort you would give on a play like that, as far as I could tell. His throw was terrible. The kid has a gun but threw a rainbow to the pitcher.

I think that would have been Stubbs/Heisey's ball if they were in there and Bruce didn't take Nix being in there into account. Didn't rewatch it though to see.
Heyward is such a beast, I wish Bruce had the confidence he has. Heyward expects to get on base every time up.

I think Nix was laying back for the stronger armed Bruce with a better throwing angle to get it, but he had to go so far. The throw was on line and some high, but hard to tell how high since no one was covering 2nd, but I think it was still late. bottom line is I think Heyward was safe no matter who played the ball. The ball was pretty much between the fielders making them have to play it pretty deep.

I think it wasn't played with maximum assumption that you must keep the runner off of 2nd in that situation. Heyward was thinking 2nd out of the box....Bruce and Nix have to think that even more.....stuff like that really bothers me
