At the end of July they sit 11 games over .500 and one game back of StL in the loss column and comfortably ahead of the rest of the teams in the NL Central, and 2 games back in the wild card race. They have a tough schedule in August with 15 road games and 12 home, including the dreaded trip to LA and SF along with AZ in the 3rd and 4th weeks of the month, while the Cardinals don't play west of Houston for the rest of the season. They get 4 off days including the day before and after the western trip. They have 5 Sunday games and they are only 6-10 on Sunday so far in 2010.
I think the key to the Reds making the playoffs will be for them to get improved offense from Stubbs and Bruce along with better pitching from Cordero, and for Rolen, Votto, and Phillips to not be hurt.
