They've been the poster program for the last few seasons, of starting strong and then falling apart late in the year, but now that Leavitt is gone, I honestly don't see that being a problem under Skip Holtz. I think Holtz was a great hire, and they bring back BJ Daniels and a ton of athletic guys that beat Florida State and went bowling last year. They have an early game at Florida, and a late-season game at Miami. If they win 1 of those 2 games, they would be 2-1 over the last 2 years against the tradition 3 "powers" in Florida.
USF is going to struggle this year. Daniels is very talented, but they are extremely thin at the RB and WR positions due to graduation, injury and a few players being kicked off the team. To give you an indication they will be relying on, what was originally their 3rd option at RB and WR will be the go to guys this year. What's more they lost their best playmakers on the defensive side of the ball as well. USF plays both Florida and Miami in non-conference games. Pretty much every other team in the BE is expected to be improved this year, including bottom dwelling UL and Syracuse. I would not be surprised to see USF finish around 5-7 this year.
