I think the picture UA5straightin2008 posted would be great. However, you'd need to resize it to approximate 50% the width and 25% the height. So I'd say crop the part you want and then resize. One of the cardinal rules of web design is (or used to be) not to make the user scroll unless absolutely necessary. So whatever header it is, make sure it fits within the size of the page, and doesn't make the page adapt to it.

Whatever you do, don't ask SnotBubbles to do it (half assed and incomplete) for you. That guy is the worst.

A pic of pedobear would really emphasize how this is the place for teachers and students hook up. You could just work him into a football stadium pic and put him next to some lolis.

Hey Krambman, could you possibly resize that photo? It's too small....I can't see it. :)

Forums are going to require scrolling no matter what. I do think the current header is a little too tall, but there's no reason to shrink it drastically to reduce the amount of scrolling. It's currently about 200px and I'll probably shrink it down to 150px. Those 50px really don't make a difference on a site like this when it's impossible to keep the most important info above the fold.

southern Ohio has some rolling hills and whatnot. I'm sure that'd be easy to find a picture of.

Also, convert the color scheme to scarlet and gray.

I meant width-wise. Of course there will be scrolling down to see all the threads. But for the width, not making the user scroll sideways unnecessarily would be a goal, IMO. Some people (like me) don't maximize their web browsers and like it when they don't have to.

Gotcha. That shouldn't be an issue, though, because nothing is a fixed width. When I resize my browser down everything shrinks with it. I don't plan on making the header very wide. Maybe 500px or so. 960px is the "standard" that I try to stick within.
