Besides, with the funny people in the cast like Rudd, Carell, the guy from Flight of the Conchords, and Zach Galifianakis...I was hoping to get a few more laughs than I got.

DUDE I KNOW! How is this movie not rated shittier on RT?!

RT has never been wrong for me, until now.

I guess not seeing to many trailers and free tickets, everyone in the theater and myself laughed alot...

I go to the movies to enjoy myself and have fun.... Just sit back and enjoy a movie instead of picking it.apart.

Just got back from seeing it.......2 1/2 out of 4 stars...

Not a side splitting comedy, had many funny moments, but I felt the first 3/4 of the film really dragged. I was thinking, when does the dinner start?

Overall, Ill redbox it once it comes out, but wont buy...

p.s....Steve Carrell saved this film.

I go to enjoy myself and have fun as well. And I don't "pick apart" movies. I'm not the type of person that complains about dialogue, lighting, cinematography, etc.

But when I'm paying that much money to see a comedy, I expect it to be funny throughout. Just like if I'm paying to see a horror film, I expect it to be somewhat scary. There is nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and saying that a movie did not live up to the hype or isn't has good as advertised.

Definitely not as bad as some of the resident film experts on the board were saying. I laughed a good bit and laughed hard several times. It won't win an Oscar or any other award but it was decent.

Ehh. Some parts made me laugh a little. But for the most part I didn't like the movie.

Comedy has lacked any intelligent humor for some time now. Comedies now a days typically consist of a basic/predictable story, then they hire actors and tell them to act idiotic, outrageous, dumb, crazy, etc.... and be sure to be loud while doing all that too.

For every comedy that is actually entertaining, witty, and intelligent there are 10 comedies that fit the description above.

Definitely am FAR from a movie critic. I go to a movie to enjoy myself, like evryone else who pays for a ticket.

Simply put, the movie fucking sucked and I didn't enjoy myself at all, and from the looks of it I'm not the only person who felt that way.

I had a pre screening, which was free... So, I liked it! Haha

I just don't think it's no where as bad as people are stating.

I'm disappointed nobody thought my cocaine joke was funny after lhslep134 said he prepped for this movie by getting baked!

I didn't actually do that...or even see the movie. :)

Rotten Tomatoes has the movie rated at 51%. I don't know why you guys are saying it had good ratings, because 51% is horrible. You have to wait until opening day is over to get an accurate rating of the movie. MacGruber was rated close to 100% before it actually came out in theaters lol. It is now at 48%.

Usually anything at rotten tomatoes that is on the "fresh" side is at least tolerable.

And I did wait until after opening day...and the movie was still further into the "fresh" side after the first day.

Dude I get that movies are relatively expensive, but what'd you spend? 9 dollars? lol..lets not act like this was a 300 dollar investment...it's 9 dollars.

Dude, do you go to the movies by yourself? Or do you make the girl by her own ticket? When I go to the movies, it's at least $20 just for tickets.

Besides, it's not just the movie...it's the whole night out that surrounds it. For example, date night to see Dinner for Schmucks was a pretty expensive night...especially since I was literally one week from my wedding.

Drinks before the movie: $25 + tip
Parking at Newport on the Levee: $1.25
Tickets to the movie: $20
Popcorn/Snacks/Water at the movie: $18
Total: Right around $65 + tip at the bar.

So ya...I feel that $65+ is a pretty expensive date night. And while the movie is only a portion of that cost, it is the central part of the night and ruins the whole night when the movie sucks.

You take movies way too seriously. I mean I'm not trying to fuck with you or anything, just don't think spending 20 dollars (come on, dinner is completely independent from movies) is that big of a deal if the movie sucks lol

That's not his point

His point is that the entire night is designed around 1 event, the movie, regardless of the price, or lackthereof, of previous activities. If the movie sucks, then it puts a damper on the whole night.
