Interesting trio. Without Simon this show won't be nearly as successful, but I think Steven Tyler might be worth watching a few times.

As would J-Lo.....I think the problem is while her and Tyler will have good insights, they will be too nice to give fair criticism. It's not easy to be honest, and that's what the show really loses without Simon. The show is really not good enough talent-wise (and never has been) to carry an audience all those middle weeks without some entertainment from Simon and the judges. Who wants to watch a 2-hr show for just 1-2 good performances?

They fired Kara. That's great. Apparently many people were annoyed by her.

agree 100%...adding Tyler definitely peaked my interest...maybe he'll surprise us and be a candid critic--who knows??

Firing Kara was a good move. Sad that the only original cast member is Randy Jackson now. This show is on it's way out.

And the most worthless of the bunch....I almost feel like Paula's comments were more helpful/insightful. Randy is always just like "I don't know, dawg, it just didn't really work for me....you know?".

I'm sure the producers of the show realize this as much as anyone and probably had talks with Steven Tyler about this. Someone has to be the bad guy, and I don't see it being J Lo. Steven Tyler will be the asshole of the group, and it must be a role he's willing to take on.

For 500k/year, I'd be that asshole but I have no music credibility but I know what sucks and what doesn't to me.

But you can't pull-off snarky without the British accent. Take that away and what people hear as witty and blunt honesty becomes simply cruel.
