Ok, not quite yet, but the time is upon us. My draft is set for Aug. 22. What is your drafting strategy? Who are the players you think will have a big year that you might be able to pick up late in the draft??

Owen Daniels. I do a lot of drafts early just to have fun and see how things go. He is normally around the 8-12th TE taken in all the drafts I've been in. Also Ward normally falls pretty late too. And just a reminder to look at the bye weeks. Weeks 7 and 8 are ones that have a lot of the good WRs.

Justin, can we have a fantasy sports forum? Maybe at least just during football season? I do fantasy football and I do quite well at it, but I hate having half of the threads in this forum being either "Rate My Team" or "Should I Make This Trade?" It would give a place for people who want to be told that their teams suck and they they are horrible managers to do so.

And for what it's worth, my draft is August 12 and it's a $50 buy-in 8 team league we've been doing for 9 years now.

I just hope my league is dumb enough to let me draft Aaron Rodgers in the third round again.

The era of drafting a top RB is over, in a 12 team league I wouldn't be surprised if 5 QBs are taken.

If anything these threads should be kept in the Pro Sports forum. This forum shouldn't turn into practically the same thing in early to middle August when all of this is going down.

+1 ... great call!

I am in a 16-team keeper league, and we keep 16 guys heading into the season. In a deep league like this, I love my team, even though I could use some WR help: Matt Schaub (and Eli Manning), Adrian Peterson & Ray Rice (and Cadillac Williams), Santonio Holmes, TJ Houshmanzedah, Devin Aromashodu, Kenny Britt, Jason Witten, Philly D ... plan on drafting a WR with my top pick, but the 1st round is always rookies (cause the best players are kept from year to year).

Dez Byrant will probably turn out nicely.

BAB I agree you do need some WR help but in a 16 team league you have 2 of the top 7 QBs and 2 of the top 5 RBs but CinciX is right get Dez For sure he will probably better than anyone you have now haha.

gorocks what type of league are you in that lets Rodgers go till the 3rd round?

Also does anyone else do auction drafts? I've started doing them this year since yahoo has added them and I love them.

My draft is Sept. 4th (last year was the 5th). The day starts off watching the OSU football game, then my daughters 4th b-day party, then a draft party. This is our third season; first year had 8 teams, last year 12, this year we might up it even more, also a $100 entry fee. Won the league (and lots of cash) last year, so I need to start prepping.

I also agree we need a FF forum at least for the season.

I think in our draft last year, almost half of the top QBs were taken in the first 2 rounds. I took advantage of that and grabbed two good RBs.

Harvin was one reason I won my league last year, I also got him pretty late in the draft.

I read an article in ESPN magazine that suggested drafting players that have the same bye week is a good strategy. That way, you are down starters for ONE week, while others are plugging in bench players in many different weeks while you are full strength. Maybe I'm retarded, but I never thought of it that way.

There's no OSU game on September 4. Their first game is the previous Thursday, August 2.

I've always just assumed that the Pro Sports forum was good enough for fantasy sports topics. I am not against creating a fantasy sports forum, though.

Wes Welker has been taken off the PUP list. Another guy who might slip and could have a huge season.

It probably should be, but when everyone and their grandmother starts a "Rate my team" thread, it ends up taking over half of the board, and for those of us who couldn't care less what everyone's teams look like, it becomes basically unusable.

Once the season starts there is one fantasy thread per week (How is your fantasy team doing? - started every Sunday at halftime of the 1:00 games). I don't think it needs its own forum.

And there may be a bunch of "rate my fantasy team" threads started this month, but the only responses they garner are "no one gives a shit" (because in fact, no one gives a shit)

This is also a good idea. A better idea, in fact.
