I am curious to see how this board will do one football starts. Remember, this board did not start until after football was well under way last year (high school, college and NFL).

Say what you want about the other site, but before it all hit the fan, there was a lot of traffic from guys who fantasized about the boys in places like Steubenville, Youngstown, West Jeff, all the MAC schools and other schools across the state to create pages of threads every day just about high school football. A lot of that traffic dispersed and went to various other sites after the $12 debacle. A lot of them came here late last fall, many others did not. I know for a fact a lot of them are no longer on the other site either as well. It would be nice to get some of those guys back on here. Not only was there high school chatter, they contributed to threads in other forums as well.

Indeed. Hopefully the name change doesn't make us too hard to find. I believe if you search for the old name on google this place shows up first.

We could always merge with Mike Clark's (or whatever his name was) site to gain more people. Of course, Mike gets to run the new site.

This time a year a LOT of sports related sites are slow. Football season is the biggest season of the year and many fans do not attend practice with the players to post new topics. Things will pick up here in the next 2-3 weeks, especially in the football forums. I still enjoy this site and log in pretty much daily, but right now I am on a different site that is much more local most of the time. The local sites around here start jumpin' this time of year and keeps on getting its busy on... Love the site, you guys are all awesome (yes, even you strap-on lad lol) and I will always be here for as long as you will have me.

I definitely think it's a seasonal thing. It will pick up with football season and the colder weather. I think vBookie will be really popular if it's managed correctly and there are prizes. I have found myself lately just skimming the first page of threads in Serious Business and just moving on because nothing is interesting to me. Hopefully we get an influx of new posters come football season.

You have to try it. Don't do it via email, but by certified letter. We know it will be fruitless, but it will be a good laugh and a nice little poke in the ribs so they know lil brother is still kicking.

We're nearing the end of the summer, the only sport going on is baseball, and this is prime vacation time. It's probably the slowest time of the year on most message boards. Wait till football season, it will pick back up.

I just think it's due to it being summer,and a lot of posters are doing outside stuff more,and the kids that are still in college aren't in school,which means they aren't posting while in class

Yes it's the "offseason" for many posters but I also think the quality of the threads are down too. I also agree that there seems to be tons of inside/overdone jokes that make things boring and predictable.

I personally don't post that much on this site mainly because there are a good number of posters that just don't offer up quality insight or conversation but rather just attack and belittle other posters. I've refrained from some posts just because I know I'd just get a ton of "Cool story bro", "that sport is for pansies", or "you don't know as much as I do because I used to play jr high football and we were undefeated". That's not to say there aren't some posters that I enjoy reading comments from but the bad far outweigh the good.

I think the bad posts or posters seem to stand out more now that the overall post count is down. And, yes, there are some threads I won't even open, that is just how I choose to deal with some of the more bizarre shit on here.

I don't necessarily buy the argument about it being down because it is the summer. Sure, we will see a bump come football season. However, this is the time of the year when people historically come on these boards and thump their chest about how great their team is going to be this year. Now his the time for them to do it because once the season starts, everyone knows the truth. The truth of the matter is that there really are not a lot of "football" people on here. By "football" people, I mean the peopel that talk about it all the time (hs, college and nfl). Just out of curiousity I went over to another site that I post on from time to time (very rarely actually). Here are just the football posts I found on page 1 of new threads, as of 11:03am today:

Maybe people will pop once the season starts, but if I recall from last fall all we saw was mostly OSU talk, Browns/Bengals/Steelers, and very little high school. I would throw in an occasions UC thread ony to have it blown up by Sleeper or Tiernan after about 10 posts. The site needs some new blood.

I'm pretty active on four different pretty major forums, the only one that hasn't been majorly down this summer is the drag racing website.

I agree with this. I don’t think football season will bring more activity. You are going to have a few that post more, but I am willing to bet its mostly going to be NCAA and NFL talk.
