The Stoolers are going to need every bit of that defense, because with the offensive line they've got, Rapistburger will probably be dead by game 7 -- of course that's assuming he serves a six-game suspension first.

William Gay and Ike Taylor are still the corners, reason number one for their struggles in the secondary.

The 2008 defense is nothing like the defense of the 2010 Steelers. Much will be asked from Ziggy Hood (unproven), Aaron Smith (return from injury), and Lawrence Timmons (position change again possibly?). Also, James Farrior is 35 years old, and Troy Palamalou shouldn't be given as much freelance time given the vulnerabilities of Taylor and Gay. Pittsburgh's rush defense was one of the best in the league last year (likely because they were so poor against the pass). Were it not for the sack numbers the steelers racked up in two players (Harrison 10, Woodley 13.5), statistically the Steelers struggled mightily in 2009.

one better hope a better cast shows up this year. T.O. or not, the additions of Boldin, Bryant, and even Massaquoi's appearance don't bode well for Pittsburgh.

Typically, it goes:
(Insert story about the Bengals, Browns, or Ravens) then the Steeler reaction: LOL YEAH RITE LIKE THEYLL STILL BE ANY BETTER THAN HOW BETTER THE STEELERS ARE. HERES MY ESPN THE COVER MAGAZINE PICTURE FROM TWO YEARS AGO. ITS ALL THE SAME DEFENSIVE PLAYERS AND NOW THEIR HEALTHY AND WONT GET HURT AGAIN. PALAMALLU PLAYED IN FIVE GAMES AFTER HURTING HIS KNEE BUT I BET HE WILL PLAY GREAT AND SHUT DOWN THE BUNGLES LOL!!!!!!!!!111 AND THE RAVENS AND BROWNHIES!!!!!!

Retards. Your picture doesn't prove shit except that the team was good two years ago. Now you guys suck, no one gives a fuck about your defense, you were still swept by the Bungles and even lost a game to the Browns. On top of that, your douchebag QB is too concerned with raping girls and you were shopping him around at the draft while the team was throwing him under the bus.

A "majority"? Based on what? One Steeler fan? Shit.

Anyways, the points about T.O. and his past "behavior" are worth mentioning. If things work out and he doesn't go all "initials" on everybody then I think it's a great move. The guy can still play. This is one of those high risk, high reward signings. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Also, while I can appreciate the enthusiasm of the Bengal fans....remember that this is the NFL and teams can and do go from the penthouse to the shithouse rather quickly. Chalking up a repeat AFC North championship in July is about as silly as posting a pic of a defense from 2 years ago. The Ravens improved quite a bit and are considered by some to be a Super Bowl favorite. And I think the Steelers COULD be a factor in the division this year IF key players remain healthy and they weather the storm while Ben is out. The Bengals have a decent shot at repeating. Is it a lock? Fuck no.....and that's basically what a few of you said.

I mean, if the Steelers winning 2 of the last 5 Super Bowls means dick than what happened last year doesn't mean a whole lot either IMO. New year, new teams, new happenings.

I don't have a problem with the Bengals or Ravens being the faves in the North. I just don't think it's a foregone conclusion and I don't think it's wise to write off the Steelers either. JMO

I didn't check any posts in this thread, but Brandon McDonald of the Cleveland Browns tweeted this earlier about TO going to Cincy:
TO to da Bengals huh??? Yessss, another piece of pussy fa da Browns secondary to run a train on... #NoHomo... Let's Goooo!!!! ITS TRU
about 7 hours ago via TwitBird
I don't give a shit what anybody says, that's fucking hilarious. I also like the confidence the Browns have been displaying. I think having true leadership is finally rubbing off on these guys.

That is pretty funny but Brandon MCDonald is fucking terrible. He wouldn't sniff the field for the Bengals or Ravens. Making dumb ass comments like that will not sit well with Holmgren/Mangini, not sure how you think that leadership relates to this comment. This sounds like something coming from someone with no leadership at all.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...

It was tongue in cheek from Bmac to Ocho.

I don't know if you use twitter, but Ocho has jokingly been calling out various defenders and he and Bmac had a little exchange.

It was meant for humor bro, nothing more nothing less.. Not everything is as serious as it seems.

Also, I wouldn't call BMac "fucking terrible".. He's not a world beater, but he's definitely serviceable and does have his moments.

Again, do some research before you post! This year's Steeler defense is almost identical to that 2008 bunch minus Deshea Townshend. Gay is not a given at corner, Pittsburgh resigned Bryant McFadden and Larry Foote, who were key pieces of that defense. Ziggy Hood is a #1 draft pick who is EXPECTED to perform and he will. Polamalu and Smith being down killed them last year, they're both 100% healthy heading in to this season. Accross the board, it's the same defense that if healthy, is a dominating defense.

Just keep writing the Steelers off this year, we'll see who's laughung at the end of the year.

I love these comments. It's as if people on a message board in Ohio are going to influence how the Steelers play this year. Make sure you bring this thread back up Cock InMe later when the Steelers are 4-8. That'll be a dandy of a read..similiar to another scenario that is EEEERILY similiar to this one....YALL JUST WAIT THE ITALIANS HAVE WON 4 WORLD CUP TITLES THEY WILL DEFINITELY FINISH FIRST IN THEIR GROUP AND BE IN THE DISCUSSION FOR ANOTHER WORLD CUP TITLE...IZZURIIII!!!!

Paraguay 5
Slovakia 4
New Zealand 3
Italy 2

Remember bungal fans, there's only one ball. The moment Stinko or T.O. feels they aren't getting their fair share, the circus will begin. Should be hilarious to watch.

Good pick up for the Bengals. I hope they have a winning season. It's been at least a decade or 2 since they have had back to back winning seasons. It is great to hear so many people knock the Steelers, it is a good sign of success when people have to use baby names to knock a team. Squeelers, Stoolers......I think the Steelers will have a down year again but let's see the records in December.

research before I post? What part of my post is incorrect? You put your predictions as to who will start and then say that Ziggy Hood will perform and suddenly I am incorrect in my research? Quite frankly you are either incapable of reading comprehension or are so blindly ignorant that you are permanently set on defending your misguided predictions. I hope it is latter and not both.

it is a good sign of success when people have to use baby names to knock a team. Squeelers, Stoolers.
This always leads to intelligent debate.

T.O. can be huge pick-up for the Bengals. Last year, their offense was not very explosive and T.O. has the ability to change that. He can be a distraction, but if he puts personal numbers aside and puts the team first the Bengals have a very scary recruiting corp.

I am not real positive about the Steelers this year. While the Ravens and the Bengals have improved their teams with free agent signings, the Steelers chose to trade Santonio Holmes for next to nothing and they have lost Willie Colon to injury. The return of a healthy Polamalu and Aaron Smith should help the Steelers avoid the 4th quarter collapses they had last year, but Roethlisberger's suspension has put the Steelers in a very precarious position.

The AFC north is going to be very interesting this year.It is a great division with some very good teams.

Good Post Prescott, Agree totally AFCN is a pretty scary division especially if Holmgren gets the Browns back on track.

If they were going to bring T.O. on board, they did it the right way. If he sucks or causes a distraction his release will be fairly painless

I really like this move because it gives a chance to see if Palmer has anything left. He hasn't been the same after that knee and if he can't get this offense to top 5 in the league then Cincinnati has a problem at the QB position.

How many times and in how many different sports is Cockne gonna pull the same old shit? He says the same thing evertime: "keep writing them off we'll see who's laughing in the end'...Okay, Squeelers swept by Bengals, 3rd in the division, but you'll see (We saw all right. Saw them lose to the Browns). Penguins OUSTED BY THE MIGHTY 8 SEED. But just wait You'll see. The Italians OH SHIT!!! AH WELL. You just wait and see. Now back to the Steelers. Full circle.

Should we keep an eye on the Pirates too? Are they gonna make a push now that'll have us all eating our words? SUCK MY DICK Cockne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!
