There are all-girl dance teams, though, which would allow for more males elsewhere. But nobody's gonna convince anyone that that's a sport. They don't even flip.

I think as long as they compete who cares. Not like the golf team is real athletic.

Golfers may be very very skilled....But I have a very hard time believing theyre athletic.

What did you beg to differ? That they are "playing", not just "participating"? Who are they playing while standing on the sideline?

That's not at all true. First of all, usually there are a select group of cheerleaders that are considered "cheering" a game. Second of all, games are not the competitive aspect that makes cheerleading a sport. Competitions (Like the national one in Orlando I'm sure you've all seen on ESPN2 at some point) are the competitive aspect, and only a select number of cheerleaders participate in that as well.
I'll admit that I used to be as much of a cynic as anyone, but spending the last year and a half around a collegiate cheerleading program has given me a newfound respect for it. They get injured all the time (I believe statistics show that it's the most dangerous girls' sport), a lot of what they do is very difficult, and it's a very time consuming activity.

Never knew this was even a question...of course it's NOT a sport...it's a way for HS football players to get laid.

Again I use golf as an example. All the golfers golf. No one sits the bench. So does make it a non-sport?

The great thing about cheer leaders is. After being out of high school a few years. They have a kid or 4+, gain a lot of weight. And are very unpopular (except for people making fat jokes about them).. The funny thing is. being at a high school football game. And seeing some mom out ther cheer leading with their daughter. OMFG you are not 17 anymore grand ma.. give it a rest already.

True. But it's also true of football players. They leave school and get big beer guts. Then they coach their son's pee-wee team and use plays from Madden football. Yes. I noticed long ago that so many coaches wear the polo shirts.. tucked in.. big ass Beer Belly and usually wearing shorts.

Says the EX cheerleader lol. That was not directed at you. I undestand many cheerleaders stay in great shape for many years after high school. But there are many who do not.

Same can be said for many athletes. And the whole being unpopular thing...really? Since when do adults care if they are popular? I would think those sort of worries are left in high school.

I don't keep track. But do most of the people you know sit around and worry if they are popular? Especially when it comes to people they went to high school with? Of the people I graduated high school with I talk to about 5 of them on a regular basis. I do not know what most of them are up to these days and what they think about me never crosses my mind.

More Facebooking is the last thing I need, lol. I have many of my classmates on FB (I graduated with 51 others) but I rarely talk to them or see them. I do miss a few of them but it's not something that I worry about. We are actually having a small get together next weekend at a friends house and I will see many of them at the annual festival in my hometown the next day. As the father of 3 cheerleaders, yeah....it's a sport. Understand there is this thing called competitions. I will show you the bills from the ER and the Chiropractor.
