I’m pleased at some of the youth today and awed by the drive and determination that they display as young adults. Many have completed college in a time required, invested in themselves and are establish citizen of the community. Those that have not gone to college or trade school have firmly created a work ethic that keeps them employed and responsible individuals.
That number is few and seems to be less and less. The mentality of entitlement seems to be the failure crutch, which gets in the way of success ethics.
IMO I have established that the age of 20 years old seem to be the turning point of becoming today’s responsible adult. Years ago I think the age was a little young 18/19 due to the ability to begin a trade career sooner. (Just my opinion)

At the age of 20 what have you done, where are you in your life in terms of meeting goals, what have you accomplished, what can you be accountable for?

If you’re over 20 now look back an reply where you where a the age of 20 years old.

Actually, I did read it. Posted it for the lulz.

I think the way you were raised has a big impact on how you shape your drive. A lot of people I grew up with still live at home, but most of my close friends go to college and the drive to succeed.

Whenever I go home I realize how much better off I'll probably be than the deadbeats there.

At 20, I was a college drop out and had no idea what i was going to do. It just took some time to realize that I had to get my act together. I lived with parents and was working in a restaurant and partying a lot. It just hit me one day that I didn't want to keep doing that forever.

I understand the growing up and how your raised has a factor but I know of good kids from good family that seem to fall short if they have not established something with their lives at the age of 20 years old.

During my 20th year, I was finishing up my junior year of college...going to school full time and working in a restaurant 30-35 hours a week. I've since graduated college (I'm 23 now) and I'm still at the same restaurant because I'm getting ready to start my masters program in the winter. I still have no clue what profession I might end up in some day, but I can tell you something with a salary and solid benefits is what I'm aiming for!

I went to college for two years and quit was working for a senator and having a good time doing it. got to see alot of cool stuff. then he retired to florida and didnt need my assistance anymore so i had to get a real job. I did plumbing for 13 years and now im working in a distribution center. Wow how things change.

My life was going nowhere. :) I wasn't making any money and there was really no way for me to advance at the restaurant. My car was a piece of junk. All of my friends were moving on with their lives and I was stuck in plain city living with my parents.

At 20, I was a junior at Ohio State, working nights as a clerk on the sports desk at the Columbus Dispatch. By day, besides being a student, I wrote for the OSU paper "The Lantern." I was a starry-eyed journalist back then, but when I moved to New York, I sold my soul to the business side of media and went for the money haha.

Hmmm, I'm not quite sure how to answer that. Harder than what? I didn't really have any goals then, except to go out and have fun every night. I guess my screwing around at 20 didn't really affect me other than I just realized if I wanted things to be different I had to change them.

I *think* Belly is trying to say that you can tell where someone's life will end up based on how motivated they are at 20. Some people are really motivated at 20 and some aren't. If they aren't, Belly thinks they never will be. That's my take anyway.

on my 20th birthday, I had just finished my sophomore year in college, had been dating my girlfriend (now wife) for 5 years. I was starting my 2nd internship with a small independently owned oil and gas company (in Oklahoma).

I was on the path to where I'm at now. Can't complain.

When I was 20 I was a junior in college, playing basketball and hoping to get laid on a nightly basis...

This thread still confuses me, and maybe it's because I was more concerned about getting laid than getting into grad school when I was 20?

Well I am 20 now and am going to be a Junior at OU. i get decent grades and keep a 3.0 GPA. This summer I have a little internship so I'm getting that experience. I am decently motivated but I am also definitley trying to live up my college years and having a good time as well. So I am hoping I'll be successful in my future.

When I turned 20 it was the summer before my junior year of college. I pretty much didn't really care about anything at that point in my life. I work my college job, ran, and partied(well that summer anyway) that cross country season I decided to not drink at all kinda surprised me I went 4 months without drinking sadly my XC season didn't end well. But man those were the days...

I'm 24 now.....

At 20 I was in college, almost finished (I graduated at 21 since I went summers and went to college while in high school). Working part time and doing an internship at a local investment sales company. Dating my girlfriend (now wife) since the age of 16, in a bowling league with my dad and uncle and in a softball league on the weekends.

Busy times, glad they are over....People would always tell me "just wait til you're in the real world", and now that I am, I freakin' love it. Much better to go to work, come home, and not have to worry about studying at night, projects due, etc. I work 40 hours at my 'real job' and I help out my mom's business on the weekend, which adds about 10 more hours to my week. Bills aren't fun, but it's fun having money to actually pay bills and save, unlike having little money in college....
