Hilliard Davidson's "suburban" kids didn't have much trouble with the Glenville last year.
One of the smallest D I teams in the state of Ohio, consistantly hanging with the big boys? Yeah....I'd say they're the toughest kids in the state.
And what was that final....16-14 of something like that? Yeah, I guess that's...."Not having much trouble".
BTW, mid way through the 4th Qt. it was Massillon 17 Glenville 17.

But I'm affraid the atmosphere will really be lacking. Crew stadium would be a good choice for the games, but aren't there other high school facilities in the Columbus area that could hold the games? Doesn't Coffman have a nice stadium?
Coffman has a VERY nice field turf playing surface, and can use parking at the adjacent Verizon/Cardinal Health office complex. However, the seating on the visitor side isn't really adequate for a playoff-type game - and the overall seating capacity might get a little cozy for a well-attended game.
With plenty of parking and the facilities available at Ohio Stadium, the need to rent two facilities in Columbus isn't really there - I would suspect that made the Columbus package very attractive to OSHAA. Beside - YOU tell the teams they don't get to play on campus.

I would suspect the rent that Ohio Stadium charges is the same as what it would cost to rent any other 2 facilities.

It should be all about the kids. Take a survey of HS players around the state. Ask them if they would rather play in some backwater hick town, a kickball stadium or the Shoe. Id bet all my vbookkie cash that over 70% would choose the Shoe.

The survey thing....Yeah, it's been talked about....Still haven't seen anybody do it. Yawn.
I would hope that if you asked the kids where they would like to play if their team made the Championship, that at least 70% would say that they don't really care as long as they make it.

Bottom line....I've been reading on here how much better C-bus would do hosting the games, HERE'S YOUR CHANCE, DON'T BLOW IT.
The whole state will be watching.

As a fan, I don't care where the finals are held as long as Steubenville is in them.

In the grand scheme of things, is it really going to matter where the finals are held in 2014? I mean, the worlds supposed to end in 2012 right?

Look at Michigan.... They play all there games inside Ford Field, and they have alot smaller schools than Ohio does and before that they were in the Silverdome.
Its not about what it looks like on TV, its about the kids, because alot of those kids will never play at OSU again. And if the OHSAA wants a better place to play thats not c-bus or good ole Stark Co. then what about in NW Ohio at UT and BG. Both stadiums aren't the biggest, but the would fit the bill nicely.

Frankly, the decision for future games rests on money. For one, many casual fans in NE Ohio attend the playoffs even without a team there. It should be interesting how Columbus works out in that regard. Second, many fans from NE Ohio will not go to Columbus & watch it on TV,, saving money for themselves. Third , it will be curious to see what attendance is in Ohio Stadium in a 100,000 + facility, whereas a full house in Mass or Canton is what it looked like. Finally, watch what the cost of a hot dog & coke and related costs in Columbus go to compared with Stark Co. I don't see attendance going up in Columbus, attendance problems continuing with NE Ohio sitting home and costs driving family outings away with cost increases. Loose translation -- OHSAA will not make as much money and have to reconsider. I'll be watching the games at home on TV. Watch what the rest of the fans do in having the games closer to them. Put up or shut up time on the way.

C-bus will attract more casual fans from the Central, Cinci & Dayton areas. Who cares what it looks like in Ohio Stadium with empty seats? The total attendance will exceed Stark Cnty figures I'm fairly confident. But you are right about one point dogs & cokes will cost more than the average Starkian will be willing to spend.

I think you're wrong. First couple of years...yes, attendance will be ok. But once the novelty wears off, if they are given another chance after those 2 years the numbers will dwindle to that of what was in Stark County, if not even worse. The attendance hasn't been dropping off b/c of location, the attendance has been dropping off b/c of TV. Hell, I'm 2 miles away from Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon, and I didn't even go out. Simply b/c I watched them from the comfort of my warm recliner.

Sorry guy, I live in NE Ohio. I'm not a fan of NE Ohio. I'll take my roots in SE Ohio any day. See the avatar? See the user name? Yep...they aren't in NE Ohio.
Has nothing to do with you and your 'digs'. It has to do with what they want and expect of this forum. Your digs are fine, when they don't cross the line. But you just apparently don't know where that line is.

If I'm ever in Stark Cnty I'll give you a call...but the only reason I can possibly imagine being there would be if I happened to be in a plane crash on my way to somewhere else.

I was lucky enough to play in 1 state title game in Canton, and have coached in two as well. I also have coached a HS games at Ohio State, and The Shoe is just way to Big for high school football. The stadium was not loud at all, and it was not made for High School Football.....Canton and Massillon are perfect fits for the State Championship games...I really look down on OHSAA for this move I really feel sadden that players will not get to experience Massillon and Canton.

Ok Tiernan, here's one guy who played....AND coached in a state title game, Looks like the infamous poll people are calling for is Massillon/Canton 1-Columbus 0.
