Simple question.

I was in 7th grade, and in English class when I first heard the news. We started watching the coverage after the first plane hit, because at the time, we all just thought it was a crazy accident. Then, when the second plane hit, we all knew that there was something larger happening...what a crazy day. I cannot believe it happened so long ago.

Sorry for the downer thread, but I was having the conversation with some people about this tonight, and it got me wondering about the OC community and what they were doing on that fateful day.

Was at home getting ready to move back down to OSU. Had just stopped working the summer job the Friday before so I was home watching tv when it all started. I sat there in shock and watched the coverage all day. It was surreal.

Senior year of college and Akron U, was in a stupid elective/general requirement class "Exploring Music: Bach to Rock". The class was until 9:55 am and we didn't know still at that point. I went to the student center to do some homework, was doing it for about an hour and then found out by a friend walking by. I wasn't near a TV while doing my homework.

One hour later they sent everyone on the campus home.

Sitting in sophmore English class in high school. Our athletic director randomly walked in, whispered something to our teacher who then turned the TV on and we saw the smoke from the first tower and no one knew what was going on. Probably didn't have the TV on for more than 2 minutes before the second plane hit. Didn't do a whole lot in school the rest of that day.

I was in 10th grade in typing class and we already were watching the news so I saw it when it first broke and went around to every class and told them what happened and to turn on the news.

I was at work. My assistant at the time came over to me and told me her husband claimed a plane had collided with the WTC. Moments later I saw a number of member heading to the break room to watch the events on TV. I spent the next few hours in there watching it all unfold on TV until they told us all to leave.

Freshman in college. Early morning speech class. Got back from class and my roommates dad called and said "turn on the tv now." We just sat there and watched it for the rest of the day.

I was in algebra class my Freshman year of high school. Periods had just changed. Just as the new period began, the principal came over the PA and announced what had happened. Our class was silent. Our algebra teacher, the loudest mouth in the school, didn't say a word for at least 5 minutes. Then he broke the silence with "It kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it?" and didn't say anything else for another few minutes. I will never forget that.
