Big XII Championship Final

Texas 42
Big XII Championship Game MVP
OLB Dravannti Johnson: 10 Tackles, 8 TFL, 5 Sacks, 2 Forced Fumbles
The Longhorns offense was led by Sophomore QB Garrett Gilbert who threw for 295 yards on 17-26 passing and 2 touchdowns to just 1 interception. Tre Newton led Longhorns running game that has been spotty all season with a season high 90 yards on 10 carries to go along with his 1 touchdown. Heisman front-runner Malcolm Williams had another huge day catching the football. He added 10 more receptions and 181 yards with 2 more touchdowns. He now has 27 reviving touchdowns on the year. "The defense really played great today, only giving up 14 points and less then 300 yards, to a team who is putting up 40 some ppg and more then 500 yards a game. It just feels great we are going to celebrate this win tonight but tomorrow it is back to business. We will give the players about a week off of practice but they still will be watching film and hitting the weight room. Penn State is a good football team and we can't wait to play them." Breaking News: Sources that have earlier reported that Coach llucas has accepted the Oklahoma job have been confirmed. According to Coach llucas, "I love the University of Arkansas and it will always be my home. This was a very hard decision for me to make. Everyday my opinion has been changing, but I woke up this morning and something just felt right. I spoke with my mom and she told me to do what was best for me, and with that, I have decided to take my talents to Norman, Oklahoma.

Even with Mark Ingram missing his 3rd straight game with a torn hamstring and Julio Jones missing his 2nd game out for the season with injury, Alabama was able to roll Georgia 49-7 in the SEC Title Game. Trent Richardson rushed for 110 yards in the first half before leaving the game with an injury and then freshman Eddie Lacey took over. The 3rd string tailback rushed for nearly 100 yards and 3 touchdowns as Bama won going away. Georgia never managed to get the ball inside of the Bama 35, their only score coming on a scoop and score. Play of the game was Alabama kicker Brent Smelley scooping up a fumble on a 4th quarter kickoff and taking it to the house. It was the freshman kickers first touchdown since 8th grade when he was a backup tailback for his Jr. High.
The Tide have won 11 straight games since blowing a 14-3 4th quarter lead with 3 minutes left vs Penn State. When Coach SteelMcThornbody was asked about what may have been this season, he responded, "Would we like to go back and replay those last 3 minutes vs Penn St? Of course, we let that one get away. We would be 12-1 right now and right in the title picture. But that loss made us a closer, better team and it built character in these young men. We don't dwell on the past and we look forward to preparing for our BCS Bowl Game. "
