The story I heard was that he beat the shit out of his kid for not playing hopscotch to his liking. I thought it sounded like a weird reason to snap on your kid but there are plenty of weirdo's out there. If that's the case, the guy does deserve to be punished severely.

If he gave him a little corporal punishment for talking back then this is, indeed, ridiculous.

Fab, indeed if he is found innocent his ex wife should beat with a belt upon the buttocks! LOL I like the headline, guilty already until he proves his innocence! LOL Unfortunately he will still be thought of as guilty in some peoples eyes even if he is found innocent. I hope he didnt beat his child for being bad at hopscotch, I would spank my boy for being good at hopscotch! LOL

Not exactly sure of what is true, but if it as how the guy said I had a similar situation not too long ago with my son. I have a 10 year old with my first wife. They live in Cincinnati and I live in Columbus. I have him up here with me every two weeks and in the summer. About two months ago on my weekend my son got ticked because he did not want to eat the Lasagna my wife made. He asked for me to make him something else and I told him we were not a full service restaurant. I told him he could eat either some cereal or some fruit that was in the fridge. He then shouted at me and my wife and told us to make him a hot plate of dinner NOW! I did not give him a spanking, but I did send him to his room as punishment and took away all of his electronics. Apparently he called the ex and gave her some cock and bull story. She called me back and send she was on her way to come pick him up. I gave her my account and told her she was making a huge mistake. Needless to say she picked him up and later accused me of starving my child (the boy ate plenty all day up to that point).

What is crazy is that I have been separated from this woman now for 9 years. She is a Jr. High Principal in a school district in Greater Cincinnati. Enabler....

Damn Danny that sucks. I know I am thankful I didn't have kids with my ex-wife, I know my life would be hell if I did!!

What makes it s whooping, or severe? A bruise on his butt? C'mon. The ex wife's version came from the 5 year old, I'm gonna believe the Dad on this one. And if getting smacked for talking back to your parents is a whooping and news worthy then all the papers would be filled up with stories about it.

This is child abuse. Anyone who beats a defenseless child like that with a belt has mental issues. There are other methods that can involve spanking, but not abuse like that. Let me take a belt to that father and see how he likes it. I'd fucking piss on him while I was at it.

I wouldnt have beat his butt, if he talked backed and was running his mouth to me, I would go right to the source, and give him a smack on his mouth. Like the OP said, this is why kids act the way they do these days, bc they know, Mom and Dad cant touch them so they do what they want. Not my kids, if they act up, they get spanked. Its my home, no one is going to tell me how to run it.

I have no problem with a parent if they give a the child a few cracks on the butt with a belt. If they were to go to an extreme, hit their child ove 20 times and draw blood or something then that's a different story.

There is no excuse for leaving bruises on a child. Period. They should throw the book at him, IMO.

Depends on the severity of the bruise and how easily one bruises. I have known people who have received bruises on their bum just by sitting on it. I have seen other people bruise just by soft, physcial contact. Just because a five year old has a small bruise on his ass it does not mean someone beat it excessively.

As others have indicated, I will take the word of the father in this situation until proven otherwise. 10 to 1 the ex-wife is playing games here. If it determined she did the husband's attorney will file suit without hesitation.

When I was a kid I was punished for backtalking and acting out of line aka the Belt, A spanking, Soap in the mouth, The Spatula. I deserved what I got.

Its different times now. I got my ass whoopins growing up and that included a belt. Also my father was a cop, hell his cop buddies probably would have helped him beat my ass because it needed beat!! People today suck, too soft!!

When I was a kid, my parents smoked in the room where I slept; sometimes while I slept. They smoked in the car while we drove to the store to buy apples sprayed with DDT that we ate on the way home in the smoke-filled car. I'm still here, right?

But times change, fellas. Just because we did something 30 years ago and survived isn't proof that it's proper to continue doing it. I'll ask you both, as well...do you hit your kids? More specifically, do you hit your kids with belts and leave bruises?

I don't have kids, don't want kids but if I did I would beat their asses if needed!! Now my parents smoked in the house, cars, etc....That I don't like and would never do. I think when it comes to punishment its up the parents but yes sure there needs to be line, I don't know what that line is because the whoopins I took didn't involve injury, just some pain that subsided afterwards and more of a hurt ego/feelings. Is two - 3 wacks with belt excessive on the ass, not to me, is 20 wacks certainly.

Well, with respect, I can't really get on board with your opinion; especially since you don't have much credibility on the subject matter other than the fact that you were beaten a few times by your parent(s) as a child.

This will probably be me some day. Our baby is too young for spanking now, but when we feel comfortable we'll do it as needed. We've been lucky so far, and timeout has worked pretty good, but i know the time will come where that won't be enough.
