Anyone else shocked by this stat? I am watching MLB Network and they are interviewing a bunch of players and this came onto the screen. I thought he was good for 15-20 a season.

He is the closest thing we have to Tony Gwynn now.

He's an outstanding hitter who doesn't need to hit HR's all the time.

This isn't 2001 anymore. Guys aren't hitting as many home runs anymore. Jose Bautista is leading the league at the break with 24. That's the lowest total since 1993.

No, he has never been a power guy with exception of last season.

He's played since 2004. I knew he had a few years of single digit homers but I thought that was due to injury until I looked at stats today. Not taking anything away from the guy. I was just surprised to see that.

he does have about 100 more career games than I thought.....I would've thought him to be about 100 HR

I think Ichiro may be closer to Gwynn.....but Mauer with 3 batting titles and an MVP.....nice!

he hasn't really ever been a power guy, but rather a guy that's gonna drive the ball all over the place without sending it over the fence.

With how big the new ballpark is in Minnesota, I'm not too sure he'll hit very many more the rest of his career either
