As a few others have mentioned --- Panasonic Plasma, in my opinion.

I have the 50" G10 model and I love it (although it hasn't gotten much use lately due to my new 92" screen and 1080p projector :) )

Plasmas still offer the best bang for the buck, and the best picture quality (love those dark blacks, lolz).

3d is a gimmick, IMO. I could be wrong, but I don't see it picking up a lot of steam in home situations until there is a way for it to be properly done without the glasses. I think we are at a time when many people still haven't migrated to HD, let alone buying an even more expensive HDTV and paying $150 per pair of glasses, plus a 3d player of some sort....

Just got a 50" Panasonic plasma. It is the G20 model. This thing has one awesome picture! I had a Samsung DLP before, it had a nice picture, but this plasma blows it away.
