He signed his contract and played through it. You should be mad at the Cavs for not resigning him to a new deal 2 years ago.

Most attitudes on here reflect the same thinking as when Tiger "owed" an explanation for his "digressions"

LeBron owed Cleveland, the Cavs and their fans respect. He went in the exact opposite direction. He is being vilified for it...as should be expected.

Maybe he doesn't owe Cleveland, but he certainly doesn't need to have a one hour special on national TV where he says "fuck you" to northeast Ohio and the Cavs. It was one of the most classless things I have ever seen.

I don't think "need" was the inspiration. Clearly there was economic benefit in it being presented on National TV. On the radio today I heard there was Vitamin Water product placement all around and that they also ran multiple commercials.

It wasn't a need. It was a revenue producer.

Exactly! I can't get over Gilbert's comments. Like Gilbert never cut or traded someone without them knowing. Gilbert should have done his job better and he wouldn't have lost $150 million last night.

And no one can deny what Lebron did for Cleveland.

You make it sound as if Gilbert and the city of Cleveland did NOTHING for him. I've been one to stand up for LeBron during this whole FA process but he could have gone about this in a better way. He ripped a city's heart on on national tv. I have no reason to believe Gilbert isn't telling the truth. If so, it's sad that LeBron would treat the Cavs front office that way (not returning calls, not telling them what was going on) after all they've tried to do for him.

No I mean taking the team to the Finals. Making them relevant. Bringing an excitement.

No one is dumb enough to deny what Lebron did for Cleveland. If you are, then you will see how badly it affects the economy next year.

I do think Lebron could have handled it better, but the Cavs were given the chance to make their pitch just like everyone else. This is a business and Gilbert should understand that more than anyone else.

No, here's what it was - a bunch of people who have never won shit jumped on a guy's coattails and expected him to live his life for them. It was "please rescue US from our mediocrity, LeBron" ... "please win US a title" ... and now, it is "you didn't give US what we wanted so you suck".

You think any fanbase in the NBA isn't going to treat LeBron well? Cleveland didn't do anything unique for LeBron, but LeBron sure as hell gave a bunch of losers a taste of the good life for 7 years.

My thoughts are that it's not the fact he did it, if he wanted to leave, then so be it. He's out to win championships, and I respect that. However, the way he did it and burned his bridges with Cleveland is unacceptable in my book. There will be basketball in Cleveland after this, yes, but LeBron could have handled it better.
