Same issue for Atlanta. Joe Johnson in a perfect world is not a max deal guy. Definitely would have excelled playing in Cleveland with James or in Chicago. However, teams like Atlanta have to show their fans they are "trying" to win and thus have to shell out $$$ to Johnson because who else in their right mind is going to sign in Atlanta. The Hawks' hands were tied IMO.

Yeah, teams panic and guys like Johnson, Amare, and probably Bosh....benefit. These guys are not max deal guys....there are maybe 5 true max players.....Lebron, Kobe, Melo, Durant, and Wade.

I love Melo as a player. He would be incredible in NY with Amare. But to me, he is somewhere between Tier 1 and Tier 2. I'm not sure we'll ever see Melo carry his team to the Finals (single-handedly) And for me that's what makes you a Tier 1 player

I have always thought he was overrated, but this year I think he really stepped it up.

Gotta add Howard, at his position there really isn't anyone on par at present.

I'd definitely give D-wade the benefit of the doubt. Shaq was on that team, but it was largely a D-wade championship
