Might as well keep making the threads if they keep winning.

Cueto vs Wells. 1:05pm start.

This is the 1 pitching matchup of the 4 that the Reds actually have the advantage on paper. Hopefully the hottest team in baseball can keep in going.

Except that Cueto is historically bad against the Cubs and Wells has been good against the Reds.

Go Reds! If Paul Janish starts at SS tomorrow I'll shit a brick.

Yeah Wells pitched very well against the Reds last year.

From yahoo:

Wells, who has a 6.26 ERA in day games, was 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA in four starts against Cincinnati in 2009.

Cueto is 1-3 with a 3.38 ERA in five starts at Wrigley.

Reds lineup for today's game
Phillips 4
Heisey 8
Votto 3
Rolen 5
Bruce 9
Hernandez 2
Nix 7
Janish 6
Cueto 1

Dusty subs in bulk again.. smh. I have no problem with days off, I'd just like to see him stagger it a little more so it happens on different days

That should be enuogh to win....but yes, I'd have one of the other regulars in there.

How have the Reds done after blowout games???? SEEMS like not well.

They are actually 4-2 after what I consider blowout games.

Really they are only subbing out Gomes and Cabrera. Stubbs and Heisey isn't much of a change in my book.

Better they sub in bulk today, while Rolen is still in there. He's off tomorrow.

BTW let the brick shitting commence. Janish is in there! AND Heisey! Both things I said I wanted to see last night. Shhhhh....Dusty is listening!

I'm not sure I'd ever want to be known as somebody who is on the same page with Dusty haha.

Heisey and Stubbs wasn't my issue. I have no problem seeing Heisey play. It was the subbing of Cabrera and Gomes on the same day. Both guys have been producing lately. Like I said before I just wish that he would rest a guy per day. Not 2-3 at the same time. It messes with the whole dynamic of the lineup. People get used to hitting in certain spots and are thriving and then boom all the sudden 3 new guys are in the lineup and roles are switched around

But if you dont switch in bulk you only have a full line-up for 3-4 games a week.

well obviously not everybody needs a day off per week (Votto, Phillips, Gomes, Bruce) That mostly applies to old guys (Rolen, Cabrera, and catchers)

Buster Olney from espn just wrote this on twitter:

SEA continues to look for big bat potential in a Lee deal, and 2 guys fit the description:Justin Smoak of TEX and Yonder Alonso of the Reds

Yeah, but thats 3 guys. So you only have your strongest line-up for 4 of the games. Subbing in bulk I think is bad when you pair the young guys occasional day off with the old guys scheduled day off. Thats bad. But scheduling older guys days off together isnt all that bad as it keeps your strongest line-up on the field for a larger percentage of the year.

It would be sweet to get Lee, but it would depend on the price. If we just get Lee, I'd be willing to deal Alonso and a young pitcher (somebody like Homer Bailey?) But in a perfect world I'd like to see them get him to an extension (unlikely). I'd hate to give up the farm or anything more than Alonso and a pitcher for a guy who will be on the team for a handful of months.

I love our pitching right now. I'd much rather see them deal a current player for a reliever to make room for Volquez. Harang for a reliever would be ideal

My issue is that when you sub in bulk you are really handicapping your team's chances to win that game. You can't be giving away games when you are in a pennant race.

Rolen with a key play to get Cueto out of the 1st with no score.

Brennamen is 3-3 so far this weekend in mentioning Starlin Castro's 6 RBI debut.

GO REDS! to much yardwork to do so I can't sit down and watch all game, but listening on 700 is nice. Looks like Cueto will give the pen some work today.

Or maybe that is the only two innings that they can score against the Cubs. ;)

I am actually hoping Wells takes his no-no into the 2nd out of the 9th and whoever happens to be up for the Reds makes it a 1-0 game. 1-2-3 9th for Cordero. Cubs lose. :)

Reds finally snap the no-hitter with two singles to lead off the 7th inning.
