We got a call at 2:00 this morning from a friend of my wife who had been pulled over by the local cops for doing 55 in a 35mph zone. She had about three beers two hours previously -but they let her go as long as someone (us, as things turned out) drove her home. They didn’t even give her the speeding ticket (although the officer gave her a rather nasty lecture).

We figure she was borderline OMVI – and at that time of the morning, the officer didn’t want to waste two hours taking her in and then finding out she was just under the limit. At 2:15 AM, the roads are generally full of serious drunks who are more deserving of official attention. Also - the local department was busy at the time providing protection to a couple of overnight construction projects - they couldn't get a second officer to the site in a reasonable amount of time.

Is this typical? I always thought the police really lowered the boom on DUI’s.

And before you testosterone-saturated horndogs ask… no, she didn’t. And believe me, you wouldn’t WANT one from this woman.

no........... but I did get a dui and the cop drove me home after he processed me. I was just over the limit and he cut me a break by not taking me to jail for the night.

Not really let off the hook...but I got pulled over once while completely sober and failed every single sobriety test. My eyes were bouncing all over...I tripped over my feet while walking the line...and almost fell over when I was standing on one foot. The cop thought he had a slam dunk DUI...but when he gave me the field breathalyzer, I blew a 0.00. The cop was so pissed...and I couldn't stop laughing. He sent me on my way, but he was furious.

Cop pulled me over coming home from the bar a few weeks after i turned 21. I probably would have blown about .10 or so, it was really late though so i was extremely tired as well, so that probably didn't help. Anyway, the cop was the one who made about $10,000+ per year doing special duty for my dad at his apartment complex. He kinda gave me the "oh fuck" look and just had me call one of my friends to come get me. No words were exchanged, no lecture no nothing. Just looked at me and said "call a ride, NOW".

One night I went out w/ my girl at the time. Drinking jager bombs ALL night. So drunk. Then I smoked a big fattie w/ some random chick in the p.lot when the bar closed. Got in my car. Was so fucked I thought it was legal to make a left on red, haha. Cop right behind me. Some young cat. I figured he'd be itchin to get his first DUI. Somehow when backup came they conveniently let me go on my way. I had to stank like booze and pot.

Later on I found out my second cousin is a copper. I figured out it was he who was the backup and when he saw my name he let me go....

I got stopped one time for suspicion of mischief..

I was driving around with deployed air bags.

Around twenty years ago my brother, a buddy (the driver), and I went fishing at a local dam. On the way home I decided to burn my brother on the leg with a cigarette and war was on. As we were battling the driver began to swerve during our brawl, and then we seen the red and blue behind us so we tucked our beers underneath the seat. When the deputy came to the window our buddy cracks the window to talk to him, the deputy asked what was all over the floor and we told him we were fishing and it was water. Then he asked why there is empty beer cans in the bed and we said it was our buddy's dad's. He asked where we live and we told him. He said go staight there.

well, we were driving thru Charleston WV on our way down in his old junker...we had fatigues on, and we looked pretty grungy...

pretty soon...lites and sirens. The cop even calls backup, and they draw on us.
we knew we were under the speed limit, and neither of us had been drinking.

so...he pulls us over; he says, "had a report of a car that was similar to yours that was reported stolen"...

BULLFKNSHT....................he was profiling us, hoping to get a drug bust...what a bunch of crap.
that lame Barney Fifer went home empty-handed when my buddy pulled out his military card.

Who knows what crime went on unleashed in Charleston while this redneck fathead was harrassing, us with absolutely no cause.

I've never heard of anyone getting out of a DUI... the cops where I go to school are notorious for sitting on top of a hill out of view just at the edge of campus and when people drive back on campus from the bar they swing out and the lights and sirens go on....q
