If you touch it....you catch it....can Stubbs catch anything close to a fence? It was a tough catch but he's missed those types all season.

Arthur Rhodes STILL has been the best relief pitcher in the game this year.

That's four plays this inning that could have been made for outs that were not made. None of then are errors, but nevertheless possible plays were not made. Last night several plays were made that wouldn't have been errors if they were not made, but they did get outs anyway. Tonight the shoe is on the other foot. Defense wins championships. Just because you have the highest fielding percentage in the league does not mean you are the best defensive team!

It looked so promising when Joey V. blasted that big bomb in the ninth.
Hopefully Cincy can take game three.

Each team scores in three of their 10 half innings. Unfortunately the Phils got 3 runs each time, but the Reds had the most dramatic 3.

A lot of the blame for this one gets dropped right at Dusty's feet. There were far too many times that I said "what the heck is he doing" tonight.

Letting Leake bat when he wasn't going to go pitch?????? I can't make any sense of that.

on the flipside...ol grump Manuel comes out to argue balls and strikes gets tossed and then his team scores 3 runs off a guy who hasn't given up a run in 33 appearances.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Terrible move.

Yeah. I mean, I understand Leake is one of the better hitting pitchers in the league. Still, he isn't Scott Rolen.

He's also a young pitcher who has been pitched to more often than not as a young pitcher.....in that situation he's getting all the pitcher has...significant difference

Taking the series tomorrow against Halladay would be huge...Come on Harang come out and just give us a shot.

I actually didn't have a huge problem with letting Leake bat there. I doubt Rolen would have been the guy pinch hitting anyway. Dusty was probably saving Rolen for later if they get the game closer. We probably would have got Stubbs or at best Nix. I'm ok with Leake trying to hit his way into a no decision.

What I'm not good with is using Hererra right after Leake or Arroyo. I know he got out of it, but I think that you want to change the pace a little when pulling a starter. Pulling slow for slightly slow is not enough of a change. I would have liked to seen Bray or Ondrusek in that situation. Let Hererra come in after Cueto, Harang and Bailey.

I would like to see Jay Bruce take over in CF. Stubbs doesn't seem to make any plays that aren't routine.

Bruce is a better CF than Stubbs...yes Stubbs can anchor the 4x100....but he's a little too iffy with the glove...touch it...catch it. I dare think it...but there is a newly signed guy in the minors who catches those balls at or near the wall as good as anyone....I know he can't hit....but Stubbs lately looks like a seasonal .230 hitter.....neither one will make a huge difference in the total outcomes.

There aren't many great centerfielders anymore and most of the centerfielders can't hit much either.

I've wanted to give Stubbs the benefit of the doubt all year, but I'm starting to think he's not the answer in CF. I'd gladly take Bruce in center and Heisey in right. I think Heisey is better defensively than Stubbs.
