http://politicalwire.com/archives/2010/11/24/so_much_for_the_earmark_ban.html

Just three days after Republican senators and senators-elect voted to renounce earmarks, the AP reports Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) -- the number two Senate Republican -- slipped a $200 million provision into a larger bill passed by the Senate on Friday.

"Kyl's office insists the measure is not an earmark... But it meets the know-it-when-you-see-it test, critics say. Under Senate rules, an earmark is a spending item inserted 'primarily at the request of a senator' that goes 'to an entity, or (is) targeted to a specific state.'"

Greg Sargent dives into a new Washington Post/ABC News poll and finds Republicans are the only partisan group that favors racial profiling at airports, with a majority supporting the policy, while Democrats and independents are strongly opposed.

Key findings: 53% of Republicans think race "should be included in a passenger's security profile" as compared to just 39% of independents and 31% of Democrats
I know I've said it before, but what you people call "racial profiling," Fish simply calls "playing the odds."

I don't even know why you guys even both responding to Gibby/Ty.

He is close to ruining this board, IMO.

My impression of the Politics board nowadays.

Ty: I have a poll that says Obama is a good dude.

Everyone else: You suck Ty.

Believer: YOU LOVE that America is now AMERIKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKA, DON"T YOU TY! The Messiah will save you, keeping drinking the kool-aid, etc., etc., etc.

I am ok with common sense wise judgment. Lets say my wife and I are in Jackson, Mississippi to catch a movie. The short route to our car would lead us through a group of young white males with shaved heads and visible tats on display around their wife beater T's. As fish says, I'll play the odds a take the long route. Maybe you are right and I am ok with out and out racism. Damn whities.

Back to the subject, I don't see how Obama can keep Gibbs (no pun intended for the board):

Gibbs re North Korea via AP: "You learn quickly as president that there are events that happen like North Korea that you have to address as they happen, not how you would plan for them to happen,"

It is statements like this that make me question the competency of the entire administration, and fuels the fire of Obama's critics that point out (correctly IMO) that he wasn't ready for this job. What was there to learn? Shouldn't he have realized this before he even announced his candidacy? Shouldn't he have learned this from Clinton dealing with the Oklahoma City bombing and Columbine, or W with 9-11? How naive are these people (with naive being the most positive way of putting it)?

This is the last straw for Obama, if he really pushes around Congress and has the EPA regulate a NON-TOXIC GAS in CO2, then America will have his head in 2012.

That law gives Congress the power to undo regulations by executive branch agencies, and more importantly, bypasses the filibuster in the Senate. However, that would require Barack Obama’s signature, which means that the GOP would have to garner two-thirds of each chamber to override a veto — not terribly likely. That would still be a worthwhile exercise, especially with a presidential election approaching, as a way to frame Obama as an out-of-control regulator.

This is probably most likely the way the republicans will handle it.

Think, I'm no 'Pub (ask around), but so far, Obama has been less than stellar.

Methinks he should be one-and-done.

I really don't think that there's any shame in being "one and done". There could be many reasons for this, such as health, ineptness, mental instability, etc.
I often wonder how politicians would even want a second term considering everything that they are put through. The benefits in the moment can't be all that attractive. Your life is one split second from being taken away from you every moment of every day, even with SS. Your family life must be about as disfunctional as any tv show x10. The list goes on and on. Ughh!
I would much rather see a President look around and realize that this country has gotten all it's going to get from him/her and say "enough", than to see a President foster mold and grow roots.
