THIS and if we think we already witnessed a housing bust and declining market values on our homes, should these IDIOTS eliminate the deduction - and in my opinion even roll it back - you can bet your ass we haven't seen anything yet.

The hypocrisy of the left continues, unchallenged. They profit from the national tragedy that public education has become, and then they turn around and use that money to send their own kids to private schools; all the while they effectively squelch such choice for those who can least afford it.

+1.

Mrs. FFT and I would seriously consider walking away from our mortgage if the interest deduction were eliminated. The economics of it would be so brutal--our home would drop in value by ~30% while our payments would increase by ~50%--unless our bank were willing to renegotiate, it'd be financial suicide to stay.

^^^

I'm negotiating now.

Our home was tax appraised at $695K in '07 and I fought them to get it lowered, I got the tax bill a few weeks ago and it is appraised at $505K, now I'm fighting them to get it higher. Needless to say that is a big difference. I'm playing hardball with our lender to extend our loan. We could pay it off, it isn't that big of a deal but in our area of the country the RE market is dead. Not on life support but dead, there aren't buyers, there isn't confidence in the U.S. economy.

What gives you any???

YOu people bitch and whine and moan about everything the man does...

"He's spending too much money"

"He sends his daughters to private school"

"He eats too many hamburgers"

"His farts stink"

Give the man a fucking break....he has the toughest job in the entire world and is doing what he thinks is best for the country and will keep us safe. Give him a break every once and awhile. I said the same thing about Bush

Also, why is an article about Rahm Emanuel posted in a threat about the Administration when he is no longer apart of it?

No thanks. What he thinks best isn't reflective of what I think is best. Because there is a difference in approach I choose to not give him a break and continue to point out things I disagree with personally.

Well that's certainly subjective. I believe it was the current Secretary of State who once said that questioning and disagreeing with such things wasn't un-American or unpatriotic.

...nor did I state that you said I was un-American. You might read my post again for better understanding. I said your comment and opinion was subjective.

Other people might but I certainly don't wonder why the rest of the world looks down on us.

It's not the "send their kids wherever they want" part that's upsetting. It's the "squelch such choice for those who can least afford it". Ask the voucher program (or what's left of it) in DC.

So if it's no big deal where he sends his children, Ty, why do Democrats fight tooth and nail against vouchers that would allow anyone to send their kids to private schools, too?

Could it, perhaps, be because the party rakes in millions of dollars from school unions?

I believe that's the case.

So hypocrisy reigns...all for money and power.

That's a great party and president you back.

Hey Quaker, was that a Republican poll?
Or maybe a Tea Party poll?
Possibly a Heritage poll?
Was that dastardly Frank Luntz at it again?

Oh wait...it's a democrat poll. Hmmm...it must be 5 to 10 points swayed to Barry to begin with, so he's really getting torched. Too bad the election isn't tomorrow. :(
