A lot of good things happening this game. Cueto battles, Cabrera and Rolen go back to being huge for the Reds offense, good breaks given to us by the umps in a huge inning for Cueto and some balls finding the holes off the bats.......good play + good pitching + good karma = hard to beat
Solid win for the Reds.

Reds have been linked to David DeJesus.
Thoughts? I think our outfield is just fine..

Bray doesn't get to face Utley, but he handles Howad well, but Werth and Ibanez welcome him back to the Major Leagues. But he bounces back to K Sardinha for the final out. So Brays starts with an 18.0 ERA after one appearance to try to bring down to respectability. Good win for the Reds.

Great win, this could be one of those games you look back on later in the year as a key game.

Haren looking to finish it out. Snakes up 5-2, bottom 8th.

Didn't Haren hit the go ahead HR?

Haren gives up three hits to start the 8th and his lead is cut to 5-3. Then he "bows his back" and strikes out Pujols and Holliday, then gets Rasmus to fly out, keeping it at 5-3. Can they hold on in the 9th? Will they let Haren continue - he has 106 pitches. Or will they turn it over to Qualls(12 saves, but 8.88 ERA) or Guitierrez(1 save and 7.71 ERA) to protect the 5-3 lead in the bottom of the 9th?

That is correct, to CF. All of the runs Carpenter gave up were on HRs. LaRoche hit a 2 run HR the inning before in the 6th.

Haren allows singles to the first two in the 9th, then they go with Heilman(2 saves and 3.55 ERA).

Ryan singles to put two on with none out. 8 and 9 spots in the order next, before they get to the top. Two more need to reach before Pujols comes up again.

Good grief, makes me glad the Reds have a good bullpen. Arizona finding a way to blow it.

I'm sure the state of the bullpen was why Haren started the 9th, and allowed the tying runs to reach, but after that it was the two errors on defense, one by a bullpen pitcher, that really cost them the 3 unearned runs to lose well before they even had to face Pujols again.

He has had a solid couple of games actually. Apparently he heard Mooney complaining about him. He makes me laugh more than anybody else when it comes to baseball. Mooney has unreal expectations. He thinks they should win every game and everybody should go 2-4 every single night.
I think I am going to go find that thread Mooney started either sometime last week or 2 weeks ago where he declares the Reds dead.

Mooney is quickly becoming my least favorite Reds fan...I mean you're exactly right jordo, he expects too much. He doesn't understand that you take 2/3 from a series, you are in the playoffs. He wants a sweep every series...slow and steady wins the race.

I honestly hope he is drunk when he posts. The minute the game he complains about certain players and looks back to their latest handful of ABs and from that sample declares that they should be benched. I thought I had heard it all when he became so disillusioned with Cabrera that he wanted a career .208 (season .227) hitter to get Cabrera's ABs.
