I'm on 18 which is a short par 4 at Tam O Shanter Hills course, and I drive it right into a green side bunker. I chip out and ball rolls to the hole and gets stuck b/w the flag and the hole. I go over to the hole, pull the flag, ball drops down in and my buddy says "nice eagle". The team we're playing against says "no that was a birdie.. the ball didn't go all the way in till you moved the flag...

I had to argue with this old fucker for the rest of the night about it being an eagle...

Carry a fucking rules book with you if you don't know them. Either that or don't argue.

I like that course.

Yeah, not knowing the rules and then arguing is an epic case of douchebaggery.

He was pissed off b/c he stuck a shot on 12 within 18 inches and missed the putt. As he walked off the green he says "in my travel league that was good". I said Well in this league, when you play me, you're putting a par or better even if its on the lip. He's like thats fine!!! no gimmes the rest of the night!!! So he putted everything out the rest of the night as he wished lol.

gimmes are weak....You play a 400 yard hole but by god you can't finish the last 22 inches.

Missed an 18 inch putt.....lol that's kinda killer on the score if your not damn near automatic from 4 ft and in

I'm OK with a gimme when it's inside of a foot, maybe foot and a half.

What really pisses me off is when people will be like "that's good," from 4 feet out.

I have a problem with giving a par or bird or eagle. I'll give you a bogey. You putt everything out in the scratch league obvi.

Ever since I made the high school JV team my freshman year, I've had a rule book in my bag.

Even if you know the rules inside and out, you should always have a rule book in your bag for just such an occasion as this one.

no way man....that 4 footer and the ability to drain it is often the difference between a guy who shoots 78 or 84....big difference in those scores

That guy is an idiot. Clearly that's an eagle.

Now if you pull the flag out and in the process pull the ball out you're now putting for birdie, correct?

If you miss within 4 feet more than once every blue moon then you need to stay off the course and get on the putting green. Before I go out on a round I make 20 straight five footers (obviously not always on the first try).

Golf is too hard to waste strokes on one of the easiest parts to control.

Right, I'm just talking about playing "for fun." No leagues or anything.

And yeah, I definitely would make someone putt something for par, birdie, or eagle. Especially if I know they are a shaky putter lol

Any sport where you need to carry a rule book is not a sport at all. Golfers should find something better to do with their time, like a job with a salary.

I'm not a big golf guy....but seriously when people have a short put they actually say "thats good" and mark it down like they hit it in? WTF kind of sport is this?

Next time I'm playing basketball with my friends and I have an open layup I'm going to yell "thats good!" and not even attempt the layup. Jesus.

You should also yell FORE when your coming from behind someone to grab a rebound over them.
