Almost as crazy as somebody saying that the Reds "paid dearly" for Rolen. They gave up Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Roenicke haha. And as I mentioned in the other thread Rolen currently has Pujols-ian numbers

I sure in the hell never said Votto was the best baserunner!

Gomes is probably the Reds best baserunner. Pretty sad when he's about the 6th fastest.

Rolen should have taken the force at 3rd rather than try for the 5-4-3 DP agaisnt the quick lead-off hitter.

But Leake and the Reds avoid the score to keep the 1-0 advantage with a line drive to Votto and a K by Leake.

The sellers did assume some of Rolen's salary, but it still was quite a bit the Red's risked. I'm not saying it was a bad risk the way it has worked out so far, but it was something that could have turned out not very good. And things like that that don't turn out well are the things that set back small market teams a bunch while they are just a small bump in the road for luxury tax teams.

I don't remember who it was, but it was someone on TV yesterday, or the day before!

I wonder if there are any other decent MLB teams that consistently make mediocre lefties look look cy young pitchers. It's got to be frustrating to be Leake when he knows he can't give up any runs.

Leake thru 4 with no runs and 63 pitches. Leake has successfully pitched around two opposite field bloopers that fell in just inside the LF line, the only two hits he has allowed.

My vote for best baserunner on the Reds is Cabrera.

I don't think Janish lost that DP ball "on the transfer" as the ump called the FO at 2nd.

I think my biggest pet peeve is when a pitcher has a free swinger in an 0-2 hole and throws a pitch thats very hittable (as Leake just did to Jackson). So frustrating.

A really great slide back into 3rd keeps the inning going for the As after it looks like they had picked Davis off, then a hit to tie it, and a really bad overslide of 3B by Barton takes the As out of any further scoring. The missed DP and the missed tag of Davis by Rolen were two chances to get out of the inning without a run, but neither happened.

My biggest pet peeve is when the opposing pitcher is throwing a lot of pitches that wouldn't be strikes and we keep swinging at them.

Leake getting it done with not very good stuff tonight. 96 pitches through 6, if he comes back out it will be his highest count of the year most likely.

That was about as clutch as Jay Bruce has been all year. I can't remember the last time he had an important RBI late in a game.
