Why would they? Why not just let Bosh walk? What is the difference from letting Bosh walk and doing a S&T with the Cavs when one of their biggest assets is an expiring.
I know the benefits of an expiring, but there would be other teams out there who can offer young talent rather than Hickson and an expiring?
I just don't understand how that makes sense.

And it was YOU who made the comment to ME that it would be a "stupid move/poor business decision" to just let Lebron walk versus letting him hold us hostage in asking for a max deal S&T. How is what you just said any different? Oh yeah, it ISN'T.thedynasty1998;401355 wrote:Why would they? Why not just let Bosh walk? I"m sorry if you are confused about what I've been saying.
1. If you can do a S&T to bring in some talented players, you do it
2. You do not do a S&T to bring in expirings, and it seems like that is one of the few Cavs assets
I'm really not sure why that's so hard to understand. If the Raptors are going to do a S&T, it's not going to be with the Cavs because there are other teams who would want Bosh that could offer a better package.

And how do you know that the Raptors don't consider an expiring contract an asset? Most teams DO consider it an asset. If they know that Bosh is gone, they will be in the same "rebuild mode" as the Cavs will be if Lebron walks.

Toronto is always in rebuild mode because no one wants to play in Canada. So now you see where I'm coming from regarding the expiring? I don't see how an expiring is more appealing to them than a young player with 3-4 years left who is stuck in Canada.

First of all, Bosh would have to agree to to do a sign and trade before anything went down, so he's in the driver's seat.
By the way, what in the world would the Raptors want that the Cavs could possibly offer?

the Raptors don't exactly have a lot of leverage. Bosh will say "hey you can either trade me to Cleveland (insert team) and get back Hickson, Varejao, and West or you can whistle past the grave yard and get nothing in return."

And if Bosh pulled a power play like that, it would be a Cavs fans' wet dream. He'd obviously have to know LBJ was staying first.

First of all, why would they take on Hickson and Varejao, given that they just drafted a PF last night to replace Bosh?
And then who are your guards? Boobie Gibson and Mo Williams and Anthony Parker? And who's your center and front court back ups again?

Hey dipshit, I've explained that comment and I'm sorry if it's beyond your comprehension. If you don't understand what I was saying find someone else to explain it to you.

(hypothetical situation) haha keep your pants on. I wouldn't call that even close to being fair. But you never know with some of the GMs in this league. The point of my post was that the Raptors have very little power in the sign and trade situation. (Bosh has to agree to sign). Bosh can dictate where he goes and thus the Raptors must choose which spare parts they want in return

I agree. Its all on Lebron. If Gilbert is able to convince Lebron to return I think this could happen.
Varejo, JJ, Mo, Delontes expiring and future picks isnt as bad as alot of people think.

That's partially true. He can say, this is where I want to go, so see if you can work something out. If they can't or don't want to, Bosh doesn't get the max contract and takes less money somewhere else. Toronto doesn't HAVE to do anything.

Yup. However, like you said who is going to sign to play in Toronto? Toronto and other non-high profile teams have to get lucky in the draft and acquire talent through trades. Because no major star is going to go play in the Siberia that is Toronto. (I say Siberia because it is forgotten to a large degree, it is cold, and they have been a bad franchise as of lately)

Brain Windhorst was on The Really Big Show today, here's the recap:
RECAP:
On the draft...
- Mildly surprised no moves were made to get into the draft
- Not surprised at all no "major" deals were made by Cavs
- They were somewhat close to getting in, but price was too high. Teams wanted money and assets
On Bulls trade...
- Still need another move to sign two max free agents
- Doesn't think it change the free agent landscape
- Bulls could have S&T Bosh anyway with assets they have
- Already thought it was a real possibility LeBron and Bosh could end up there
On Vegas odds that Chicago is now the front-runner...
- Thinks if LeBron tells Cleveland no, NYK are probably his preferred destination
On assets Cavs have...
- Delonte's contract is huge. Can save a team $5.5 million by himself
- Think if LeBron re-signs, Cavs gain huge amount of momentum in getting S&T players and free agents wanting to come here
On Coaching...
- There's a chance there won't be a coach until LeBron decision is made but that isn't Cavs preference
- Have talked to Byron Scott multiple times, more than twice.
- Feeling is Scott will take the job if Lakers don't offer him job or if Phil stays
- Doesn't think it's a guarantee Byron gets offered job if Phil leaves
On LBJ being courted...
- Will try to be as under the radar as possible. However, there will be more sports reporters covering this story than any other story he can remember, so details will inevitably leak
- Guesses it will be at least July 15 before LeBron makes decision
- LeBron will make the final decision. Not Wes, Maverick, Jalen Rose, David Stern, etc.
- Thinks the team that gets LeBron is where he feels most comfortable. Talked about Reebok willing to offer more money than Nike when LeBron was 18, but LeBron felt more comfortable with Nike. Believes this is what gives Cavs final edge
On Bosh S&T...
- Everything depends on LeBron. If he re-signs, thinks Bosh becomes a REAL possibility
- Said Cavs have assets to get it done, with a package based around Delonte, JJ and Andy but it's all predicated on LeBron coming back

I've understand your explanation......I'm not buying it though. Expiring contracts are GOLD in the NBA.

I saw that. Good to hear Windys side of things. I might be in the minority but I still think the Cavs have a great chance of bringing Lebron back to Cleveland.

Gilbert is going to get it done. LBJ will re-sign and Bosh will be a cav. Mark it down.
