Guess what, Cleveland is in rebuild mode and these are the types of moves/signings you will see. Cleveland will wait up until the August date that they have to trade Delonte before making the move, find the best option and then go with it then.
Samuels is tough down low with a nice frame and potential. These moves just make it clearer that Powe and Jamison will be traded down the line. This move also lets me know that Grant and Gilbert have a plan to rebuild with young talent through signings, trades, and the draft.
I get that they are in rebuild mode. I like bringing in young talent, and think Samuels is worth a roster spot for a year or two to see if he can develop.
What I don't like is that if they are in rebuilding mode, then do it. This is literally the first move they have made since the season ended. We kept hearing about Bosh, Paul, Barnes, Jefferson, Sessions, buying into the draft, etc... yet this is the move they decide to make.
And I'm not even saying a boring move is a bad one, but this franchise is very fragile right now, so they need to do something to let people know what direction they are planning on going.
