Johnny Cueto who is living right at 6-1 with a 4.5 ERA faces off versus Cliff Lee
The Mariners are putrid....but this could be one of those uglier than life series for Cincy.
Reds need to battle Lee and take him opposite or it could be one of those 88 pitch complete games

Cueto throws a good game and the reds win 4-3. Bruce will also strike out 3 times.

Don't see the REds winning tonight..they're awful against good pitching and Cliff Lee is as good as it gets.

It's one game...Cliff Lee is awesome...but he is also 4-3...so he's beatable and the Reds have some players who step up moe often than we are used to.

Rhodes pitched yesterday for some dumb Dusty decision, so he probably won't be in the game tonight unless they have the lead. That's twice Dusty's used him lately when he didn't need to.
I wonder if Gomes will DH all weekend with Heisey going tonight and Nix against RHP.
This team made Kershaw look like a Cy Young pitcher so they should make Lee look even better. I bet he goes 8 IP, 9K, 1R. Bruce, Stubbs, and Votto will all look silly a couple times.

I think Stubbs will hit him....scouts seem to keep pitching Stubbs away and he can hit it.....I'll bet he burns Lee once with a double or better.

Cliff Lee just needs support. Which the M's don't supply. It really fucking sucks being a Mariners fan.

Reds have a tough draw against the Mariners. King Felix and Cliff Lee. It would be nice to get 2 out of 3 but we'll see.

I was thinking about grif the other day, how much are the reds still paying him. i know he's getting quite a bit for the next several years in deferred money. people forget about that when looking at the payroll.

Didn't he go for $7mill a year and extend it forever it seems
Fortunately, I don't care about the GM or what they have....they worried about $150,000 11 years ago and could've had Ron Oester to see his managing skills but passed him up for Bob Boone would take it for $350,000......the rest is history.....a decade of futility and worse
I don't know how much winning covers huge payrolls....but I bet if GABP had 35,000 a game they could afford a better team........gotta get the paying fans excited.....not much has been done for that.....I know 1 thing that would fill the stadium a few times at least and could very well help this team......and I know you disagree
Reds 17
Mariners 2
Adam Dunn with 4 solo HR and a muff in LF and Paul Wilson kicks Kyle Farsworth's ass

Kind of curious that Heisey hits before Bruce tonight.

Normally, I don't complain about Dusty, but REALLY?
Miguel Cairo is not only the starting DH, but the DH is hitting 9th? That's absolutely awful.

What's funny is that tonight's 9 hitter (presumably one of the worst hitters, right?) usually hits 2nd when he plays as a regular. How much sense does that make?

Dusty being Dusty
folks, he simply cannot help himself....shit if it works out he'll probably pitch Cairo next week so he can bat him 9th in the NL

Ichiro bails out Figgins on Phillips pop to RF that Figgins called, but then lost rack of. BP would have scored as Votto and Rolen had hits behind him which resulted in no runs when gomes grounds out in the top of the first.

Lee with 13 pitches for 5 batters and Cueto with 18 for 3 batters. 0-0 thru one inning.
