Slightly misquoted, but good stuff nonetheless. For those who are interested, here is the original text from Dr. Adrian Rogers 1996 work, Ten Secrets for a Successful Family:

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the industrious out of it. You don't multiply wealth by dividing it. Government cannot give anything to anybody that it doesn't first take from somebody else. Whenever somebody receives something without working for it, somebody else has to work for it without receiving. The worst thing that can happen to a nation is for half of the people to get the idea they don't have to work because somebody else will work for them, and the other half to get the idea that it does no good to work because they don't get to enjoy the fruits of their labor."

Don't think so ............ freedom would would eliminate the single largest reason to be unpeaceful.

Great Americans like Patrick Henry, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson once thought so. Many of today's milquetoast Americans think that playing nice in the sandbox with international tyrants and thugs will keep the peace.

Without peace there will always be people being made to do things they don't want or killed because of some reason. That takes away any freedom they have.

It's one of those sayings that makes sense both ways.

Well since most of us are just throwing out quotes, here's the majority of my "favorite quote" section from my facebook haha

"Canada is like a loft apartment over a really great party."
--Robin Williams

"A man might forget where he parks or where he lives, but he never forgets oral sex, no matter how bad it is."
--Barbara Bush
...
"I lie every second of the day. My whole life is a sham."
--George Costanza

“What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and my God have mercy on your soul."
--Principal from Billy Madison

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."
--George W. Bush

"You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer."
--Frank Zappa

"When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me."
--Emo Phillips

“I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is to try to please everyone.”
--Bill Cosby

"There is nothing more foolish and cowardly than to be beaten down by a sorrow which nothing we can do will change."
--Theodore Roosevelt

"Si vis pacem, para bellum" (If you want peace, prepare for war).
--Flavius Vegetius Renatus

"Come on, you sons of bitches, do you want to live forever?"
--Daniel Daly

"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."
--Margarett Thatcher

"Poor people have been voting democrat for 50 years, and they're still poor."
--Charles Barkley

"Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid."
--John Wayne

"Federal aid in such cases encourages the expectation of paternal care on the part of the Government and weakens the sturdiness of our national character..."
--Grover Cleveland

"to whom much is given, much will be expected"
--Luke 12:48

"Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber."
--Plato

"I think we have gone through a period when too many children and people have been given to understand "I have a problem, it is the Government's job to cope with it!" or "I have a problem, I will go and get a grant to cope with it!" "I am homeless, the Government must house me!" and so they are casting their problems on society and who is society? There is no such thing! There are individual men and women and there are families and no government can do anything except through people and people look to themselves first. It is our duty to look after ourselves and then also to help look after our neighbor and life is a reciprocal business and people have got the entitlements too much in mind without the obligations..."
--Margaret Thatcher

"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly."

#3 is totally false. The government gives shitloads without taking it from anyone. It is a well known term called deficit spending.

#4 is as dumb as it gets. Spoken like a acid tripping philosopher. Far out man.

#5 is totally inaccurate as well. The unemployed number 17% in this country. Of those 17% still looking for work, they don't want shit given to them from anybody. They want a decent job.
