I broke my jaw a couple years ago(playing backyard football) and had to have it wired shut for six weeks. I had to carry a little pair of wire cutters around everywhere because if I were to throw up, for some reason, there would be no place for it to go and I would choke and possibly die. I would crave food that I hated with a passion because I was always hungry and I could only eat(drink) liquids. I ended up losing about 25 pounds and it was one of the worse experiences of my life.

I'm at 18lbs right now and only a week in. 4 or 5 more to go...I need to start drinking twice as many milkshakes apparently. Luckily tho, I only had my upper jaw operated on and its not wired shut, only tightly banded. I can slightly open my mouth and force shit in if I get real hungry...stroups;399260 wrote:I broke my jaw a couple years ago(playing backyard football) and had to have it wired shut for six weeks. I would make mashed potatoes and load them up with butter and ranch dressing so it would be creamy enough to eat/drink. I'm assuming yours is wired shut too??

banded...i can barely open it. Basically if i eat anything other than a pure liquid it needs mixed with gravy or something runny...
