Is the Saudi Arabian company linked to al Qaeda?
If not, then I see no problem. Companies of countries buy buildings all the time.

So, then why doesn't another American company outbid them?
I still have values, morals and all that patriotic stuff that is easy to say. I just don't get the point. It is not like the building is going to be decked with mosques, Saudi flags and death to America stuff.

Oh no, someone from somewhere else wants to buy a building!
Those liberal anti-american bastards?
What does this have to do with standards, morals, pride, or common sense? Nothing. Ptown is right on the money.

Come to think of it, i can't believe we allow the Japanese to sell electronics, cars, etc., in our country after what they did to us in World War II.

I would like to agree with Belly, but I have to agree with ptown. We live in a capitalistic nation. (supposed to be, anyway). If it is an issue of pride, then an American company should outbid them.

Note about contract bidding: You don't outbid anyone .... lower bid or low ball or under cut or how much you firm is willing to lost to get the project
I will make addition comment later ...I'm busy now low balling a quote to rub the face of my competition into the dirt.......... why because I can ...... hecause I know his weakness and his pricing profit point.

I don't begrudge anyone to make a buck...even likely anti-American Saudi companies. So if they undercut an American company to - um - "win" the contract, so be it.
I just hope the bastards build the tower strong enough to withstand the impact of hijacked civilian airliners piloted by radical Islamic terrorists of Saudi descent.

So then why doesn't an American firm out bid them (we know, lower bid wins)? Seems like a simple answer. Of course you'll probably chalk it up to Obama being the evil socialist big government guy who has scared all the businesses and businessmen away from investing in anything.
I don't understand why we freak out anytime a foreign company/group tries to set up shop or invest in something in the states.

Well, I always thought foreign invest was good? That means other countries think your economy is strong enough to support their ventures.
That said, other countries do it all the time.
I don't see why people are freaking out. If you think this through it makes sense.

Some you guy should just take a knee or better yet bow to the Arab King like our Public Servant did, coward before lesser men. This is not just a building but a symbol of America Pride, Strength, Ingenuity and American Fortitude prevails. This ground is where American Citizen where attached and innocent children became victims of Mid East hate of freedom, and prosperity in the name of religion of hate and a society that wishes use dead. This is where American blood has being spent and this is where Americans will rebuild. This is where the love of country is build by the love of countrymen and women. This is just not a building but America.
There are something that foreign countries aid and royalty gifts can be greatly appreciated but this is not one of them ….donate their money, give to the cause but American will build this for America…. No foreign firm should have anything to do with this structure. BUILD IN AMERICA BY AMERICANS FOR AMERICA
I take it back there is an investment and that investment is in your self pride which some of you are lacking.
I truly believe many of you have forgotten what it means to be a Proud to be American.

Part of being proud to be an American is to value ingenuity, success, and skill, not to praise mediocrity simply because it has a flag stuck on it. I want this built by whomever is going to give us the best bang for the buck, regardless of where they live.

Part of being proud to be an American is not worrying about where the firm that builds a structure is from or who it is financed by as long as it will be safe and will be a building that we can be proud to have on our skyline.
Of course, what do you want done Belly? Do you want us to just not build it until an American firm ponies up? Because we'll be waiting forever. Maybe Obama will use some taxfunds to pay for it. Then it could be built in America, by Americans, for America with American taxpayer dollars.
Throwing superlatives like "you don't have any pride" and "you've forgotten what it means to be an American" don't accomplish or really say anything. I could say that "you've lost faith in the free market" or "you've lost touch with our historical melting pot culture that has provided us with a varied and rich culture across the country" but that would mean just as little and be equally stupid.
Stop looking at things through the lens of "how is this bad for America" and start objectively analyzing situations. You'll probably be upset less.

To some of you concession and compromise is all you got ….. that is a sad state for America and the future for this country and yourself. What happen to the spirit, determination, the fight and the unseen value of American standards and honor? Is anything sacred anymore or just seen by the next generation as bricks, mortar and glass. Never looking beyond what those structures and the representation to the America public and the Nation and why. Replaceable and disposable along with the lives of those that where sacrificed to build such a monument to America. Be reminded of those lives lost on 9/11 and the mean to why build this structure. Is the Hoover Dam just hold water, Mount Rushmore just rock scrimshaw, Whitehouse Nights Inn to the Public Servant, Arlington Cemetery just a lot of grave stone, Empire State old building where King Cong fell from and the Twin Tower meaningless plot of ground now after nine years. Does the lowest bidder with ties to the Middle East even be qualified to bid?
There are something’s where concession and compromise has no place being considered and this is one of those situations.

Come on Belly? Seriously?
Once the thing is built are you going to stand there and say it is unAmerican just because the owners just happen to be from the Gulf? Even if the designs are the same and building has all the monuments to that awful day?
Also, do you really think people care who owns the thing? Does it really matter at the end, or does the building's appearance, structure, impact and memorial to 9/11 matter more to people?

Personally, I wouldn't even let them sniff the bid, and not give them the opportunity. However, I still say that an American company should outbid them. Hell, get a few American companies to come in and go together to outbid them. I think the problem you run into is, however... how many of the big American companies are truly "American" anymore?

So Belly, if you had to choose....would you rather have BHO and his socialist/commie/pinko friends in the democratic party but who are nonetheless Americans (so it would appear...) take over and prop up failing U.S. banks and Car companies with U.S. Taxpayer Dollars or have more efficient and better run foreign companies take over these companies through the free market? Would you rather have the taxpayers own most of GM in a socialistic fashion, shunning free-market capitalism in the name of upholding an American institution, or would you rather adhere more closely to free-market principles and allow, say, BMW to obtain a majority interest in General Motors?
