when I first read the thread, I was afraid this was the latest celebrity passage..... aka the "eternal call-up"

thank goodness it was not...keep on rockin' Carlos!

I'd guess that due to Marson's youth (doesn't turn 24 until later this month), they'd rather have him get regular PT. They're not bringing up Santana to platoon with anyone, so have the journeyman take the occasional start to rest him and have Marson start regularly at AAA to see if he can develop a halfway decent bat.

This may actually put some people in the stands this weekend, along with the Strasburg kid.

I need to update the % of runners he is throwing out.

9 of 31 (22.5%)

He was at 19% when I last checked on this.

Throwing out runners is a dumb argument here. Marson was the best in the MLB and he was pretty much worthless for the Indians. Santana might be the worst in the MLB and will still be an upgrade from Marson for this team.

Manny Acta just said that Santana was brought up now because of his defensive improvement, so maybe NCF's updated stat was a factor! ;-)

Interesting that he is put in the 3 hole for tonight's line up. Go do it, boy, and Go Tribe!

Carlos just happened to throw out the first stolen base attempt in the 1st inning.

If I'm correct, that's a pretty good percentage. And then he beats out a DP ball in his first at bat to keep the inning going.

V-Mart had both good and bad years defensively. I believe he did have one year when he was throwing out less than 20% of would be base stealers.
Marson couldn't hit his weight, but he is very good at throwing out base stealers.

Lou Marson was definitely improving with the bat. I'm glad Carlos is up now though, he had a good game behind the plate and some good AB's.

He'll be just fine.

Wow, he seems to have more hits than that.

Well, the 2 hits he had were definitely big hits. I know one gave us the comeback lead over Boston the other night.

Besides, Lou Marson wasn't up here for his offense. He's a very solid defensive catcher with a good arm behind the plate.

Yeah, but you can't be hitting .080 and expect to stay in the bigs. That's in the Dean Chance zone! ;-)

Unfortunately for him, baseball requires you to play offense and defense.
