Wow. Let's give this a little more time and see what comes from this. Hopefully it is true. Where does this leave Missouri now?

If this all happens what happens this football/basketball season, do the schedules change, or would the Big 12 still exsit this year?

Yes, the Big 12 would exist for one more year. None of these changes are likely to take effect until 2011/2012 at the earliest.

Is the old Red Army National Team from the original Soviet Union still playing? Perhaps they would like to get in the Big Ten also? They would certainly attract the Marxist crowd and with the poor economy, every little bit helps.

This makes sense geographically. The flight from Austin to Minneapolis is 1044 miles and from Austin to New York it's 1513 miles (if Rutgers ends up in the Big Ten). From Austin to Seattle it's 1771 miles. That means that if Rutgers also ends up in the Big Ten travel for their farthest games would be able the same and if Rutgers doesn't end up in the conference it would be substantially shorter.

I'll puke if Rutgers joins the Big 10, lousy athletic department and NO fanbase. People in New York that watch football already watch the Big 10 and ND.

According to the guy on the Northwestern site who has been right on everything so far:
- The Big Ten is currently only pursuing Nebraska, Texas, and Notre Dame.
- Texas A&M is talking to the SEC along with Virginia Tech and the Big Ten / Texas is waiting on that. If A&M / SEC falls through, A&M could go back to following Texas.
- Missouri is supposed to have a conditional offer that will go out if Texas joins (this could be taken away by Delany who many think has been playing Missouri all along).
- Things are happening in the Big East that could result in ND to the Big Ten.
- Tomorrow will be THE day when things really start falling into place.
All of this plus the Pac 10 commissioner coming out and saying that they could stop at 11 makes me think that the Big Ten is back in charge (or was always in charge and played everyone). The only wrench in this would be if Texas backstabs the Big Ten and heads west or southeast for whatever reason.

I feel like it's draft day, only there's no draft order and any team (conference) can negotiate a contract with any player (school). Or maybe it's like election day and all of the projections and returns are coming in and constantly changing. I must say, I was getting sick of hearing about all this expansion stuff when it all was still very far off. Now that stuff is actually happening it's becoming quite fun to watch.
purple_rain, do you have a link to this Northwestern guy? I'd be interested in reading what he's saying.
