It's funny that Nebraska's down years (2000-current) still rank them in the top 20 win % for that span of time. In fact, as bad as people say they have been they are 3rd in the Big 10 over that span. Most of the poorer than normal seasons were under the leadership of Bill Callahan and an AD that was out to destroy everything Nebraska had accomplished in previous years.

OSU 0.80315
Wisconsin 0.66667
Nebraska 0.65625
Michigan 0.65323
Iowa 0.64000
Penn State 0.62602
Purdue 0.54032
Minnesota 0.50000
Northwestern 0.50000
Michigan State 0.49180
Illinois 0.38136
Indiana 0.33333

Look, it's like the Big Ten set out to buy a luxury sports car. Ferrari wanted to choose what car they bought, Lambo didn't have any cars for sale so the Big Ten came home with a Porsche.

The Pac-10 picked up a Lotus Elise and a Mustang V6.

My suggestion for aligning a 12-team Big Ten.

Division A
Ohio State
Michigan
Indiana
Illinois
Minnesota
Nebraska

Division B
Penn State
Michigan State
Purdue
Northwestern
Wisconsin
Iowa

Play everyone in your division once (5 games). Play your 'rival' school in the other division every year (1 game). Then play 3 of the other 5 schools in the other division, rotating a team in and out every year (3 games). That gives a 9 game league schedule.

The cross-matchups would be:
Ohio State-Penn State
Michigan-Michigan State
Indiana-Purdue
Illinois-Northwestern
Minnesota-Wisconsin
Nebraska-Iowa

This also would preserve Ohio State-Michigan, Ohio State-Illinois, Indiana-Illinois, and Penn State-Michigan State.

It would also give a more balanced league for scheduling, while keeping OSU-UM in one division to eliminate any potential rematch a week later in a title game.

Also, depending on which way you want it tilted, you could swap Nebraska and Iowa.

I for one am excited about the move. I was out in the Kansas/Nebraska area when it was announced. It sounds like the Nebraska fans are okay with the move. Many said the conference hasn't been the same since it went to the Big 12...Mainly due to them not playing OU every year.

Kansas fans sour-graped it with excuses like "we'll be a better basketball conference now"..."Nebraska moved to a conference so the can finally win a football game".

I had to laugh and bring up the fact to Kansas fan that they, along with a few other remaining Big 12 schools that no one wanted, had to kiss Texas, A&M, and OU's ass in order to survive. (I should have said continue kissing Texas' ass, since that is what Texas wants the Big 12 to do)

Absolutely hate what college football is becoming--although I still think it is better than pro football. Thank goodness we still have high school football.
