Do you think that head should roll and ass kicked in the Obama Administration over this oil spill?

Has the Public Servant Clown Administration failed the American people?

Beset by problems at home and abroad Obama has come across as clinical in his response to the Gulf oil spill. But if Obama is to fulfill his bright promise of "change," failed policies should be revised. Heads should roll.

What administration? Bush's? Some did*, so now what are you going to dwell on? Let's try to concentrate on Obama's mistakes, not immediately deflect to Bush, especially when you are wrong.

*Rumsfeld, Libby, etc.

Wrong. 42 Bush Administration heads rolled....not unusual though. ALL administrations have heads roll.

Sure, I think heads should roll in this administration.

Rahm Emmanuel, anyone??! If there's anybody who wouldn't want R.E. to be evicted, I sure would like to know who it is. It would be highly entertaining to learn the reasons why he should be kept.

100% agreed. It is extremely annoying by both sides how much politics has taken over this issue.

Maybe, but both the media and the pundits are another reason for that.

I'm more concerned about fixing the problem, then the fallout can come.

Fix the probem....drill in shallow water or on land .....simple solution
Keep goverment out of the way of Business, Production and Profit ....have goverment inspector do the job and keep lobbist out of goverment.

We already drill in shallow water. As for land, I'll leave that to the locals and states.
As to government in the way, it was the lack of regulation that led to the disaster. I'm not sure I want government totally out of the way. The last 2 years have shown us what lack of regulation and oversight does.

I have a question that I haven't seen addressed....is this rig in International Waters? If so, what laws can the US enforce?

Going by the Law of the Sea definition of territorial waters, even the though the U.S. is not a party, the territorial waters are up to 13 miles, then the U.S. has about a 200 miles EEZ or Exclusive Economic Zone, which the US. has special rights over the exploration and use of marine resources.

The Deepwater Horizon was 41 miles off the coast, so within the EEZ. So, inside U.S. waters, going by the LOS.

Was not the lack of regulation but the lack of goverment regulator doing the job and taking pay-offs

Which is another way to say lack of regulation. Lack of regulation can be on both sides of the coin-the private sector is not living up to their end of regulations (which BP was not) and the public sector was not verifying or doing the correct job in regulating (which MMS was not).
Fails all around.

I'm with you ptown- it's way too easy politically to look at a disaster and use it to point fingers at the party-in-chief and play the blame game (i.e. Bush & Katrina).

However, what is equally annoying is those who would use the disaster (or any crisis that can't "go to waste" to quote Rahm) to advance a controversial political agenda:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37470151/ns/politics-white_house
Obama said the country's continuing dependence on fossil fuels "will jeopardize our national security
No it won't- not if we take advantage of energy more at home.
it will smother our planet
With what- plant food?
and will continue to put our economy and our environment at risk."
Not as much as you're putting our economy at risk everyday.

It only took 2 posts beyond the original before we get someone whining about Bush.

Pathetic.

1. Because you would have to be a complete dunderhead to not be bitching about, at least, some of the things that Obama has/has not done.
2. You would have to be a drooling zuchinni not to bitch about some of his administrations deeds/misdeeds.
3. Just wait awhile. You'll get your turn at bitching about the next incumbent :)
