Exactly what Kobe should have said about the whole situation.
IMO, there is no better regular season player in the NBA than LeBron James.. but, there is no better player in the NBA better than Kobe in the postseason. Playoffs > Regular Season.
Give me Kobe anyday, but you can't really go wrong with either.

I agree^ Until LeBron stops caring about his business and making movies in the summer, he's never going to be the killer Kobe is.
You don't hear about Kobe filming basketball comedies in the summer. You don't hear about Kobe meeting up with other NBA players who haven't won much either.

Kobe is 100% the best player in the game, period, and I am the farthest thing from a Lakers fan. I think Lebron will be soon, but to think LJ is now is just delusional.

"Bryant is consumed with one item -- a fifth championship -- not the soap opera surrounding King James, who wears a crown but not a ring."
" Fact is, Bryant, despite a sore knee drained in April, despite a healing broken finger, is playing at the highest level he's ever played. Historically speaking, Bryant is nearing Jordan's plane of greatness. James is nowhere in that discussion, even if he has two MVPs to Bryant's one.
Somehow, Bryant, at 31, is better than Bryant of his 20's."
The only 2 things you need to read out of that article.
Kobe Bryant, the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.

This is the most recent I could find, it is each of their career playoff averages prior to this post season, if you want to add in this playoffs, then go ahead.
Lebron:29.4 pts, 8.3 reb, 7.3 ast
Kobe:25.0 pts, 5.1 rebs, 4.7 ast
The numbers really aren't close..however, none of them really compare to the scoring MJ put up: 33.4 pts, 6.4 rebs, 5.7 ast
Also for all of you Kobe nuthuggers, this is Lebron's stat line for the Boston series in which he played so "poorly" in: 27 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 7.2 APG, 45% FG
I posted this so we can see who has the better stats at the end of this series. Please dont bring up the championship argument because that is all you have. Kobe has only been the "man" for one championship, last year. If they win it this year, I think Gasol should have just as much credit as Kobe. Also, most importantly, it takes a team, not a player to win a championship.

Karl Malone, Steve Nash and Charles Barkley had some nice stats too!!!!

Do you really think a player's greatness can only be measured in stats? Case in point: was any Cavs fan actually HAPPY with Lebron's triple-double in Game 6 this year? Stats can paint a picture either way, any statistician knows that. I genuinely dislike Kobe, but on the court, the guy is a winner and clearly is the best player in the NBA. I know when the game is on the line, I want the ball in his hands and not Lebron's.
That being said, I back Lebron, and think he is a tremendous player and a great ambassador of the game ... I am rooting for him to take the next step and become the best.

Im somewhat mixed...sure there are other factors that dont go into stats, such as diving on the ground to get a loose ball, but lets admit, kobe doesnt do that. You can say that Kobe plays good defense. I think Kobe can play some good defense at times, but at times it isnt very good, just like lebron. You can try to discredit stats all you want, but they are really the only true factor on how to measure a player. Ok, ill admit Kobe seems to be a more emotional player at this point in his career than lebron (that scowl is stupid looking if you ask me).
You guys will bring up about Kobe hitting the "big shot" more than Lebron. Honestly, Kobe misses that shot more than he makes it. one example would be the airball he threw up and artest rebounded and made the game winner. Its just when he does people go crazy over it. It doesnt matter if you score the first basket of the game or the last basket of the game, as long as you score the points. I also think the haters have higher standards for lebron than kobe. Kobe can put up a 30,5,5 game and it will be a great game for Kobe. If Lebron does a 30,8,7 its just another game.
I said this before, only a Cleveland fan can be disappointed by a triple double. Yes I know he also had 9 turnovers in that game, but there are just too many factors that go into it that we dont know whose fault it really is. Lebron only averaged something like 3.5 turnovers per game this playoffs too. I dont think that is too bad considering he might as well been the PG for the team.

Lebron is pretty much Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, and Patrick Ewing right now. Great players, but just can't seal the deal.
