Best thing for him.
He was not 100% and his play was so bad he was not helping the team at all.
Hopefully he is 100% to kick off the new season.

You have to start to wonder if maybe he's just one of those guys that is made of glass. Promising player when he was healthy but that has been a challenge for him the past few years.

Grady was an ironman at one point. I think he played over 300 games straight, but now he seems to be having issues staying healthy.

I don't think he ever fully healed from last season as it was, so all this time will be good for him. Sucks though.

Difference I think Hafner had a "little help" if you know what I mean. He sure is looking smaller these days.

I dealt him at the right time in my fantasy league. It's time for the Tribe to deal the old guys on their team and just play all the young guys. Bring up Santana and Brantley and see what happens. It can be any worse. In fact I'd argue it would be an improvement.

The current regime has been atrocious at developing talent. They yank people around way too much. Just put them in the lineup and let them play. It's hard for a guy to get better when he is playing one position one day, and another the next day. Sometimes it's even worse, they'll play a guy for a day or two and then sit him for a few days.

Carlos Santana will be up when it doesn't affect his ML clock.

That should be sometime soon (within the next couple of weeks).

Basically, since you don't seem to understand why Santana hasn't been brought up yet, is that if the Tribe waits to bring him up after a certain time, it doesn't take away an option year, which in turn keeps his arbitration away.

If they bring him up in a few weeks, it'll be the same as if they waited until next year to bring him up. His "arbitration clock" won't start ticking, is essentially what I'm saying.

haha at you lecturing me about the arbitration clock. It's past June 1st. The arbitration argument has no bearing anymore.

Ok, and like I said, he'll be up soon.

However, you were bitching back in early May about why Santana wasn't up yet.

I still stand by my earlier comments too. The dude has been ready for some time. Besides, I'd argue more fans would show up (i.e. more money to spend) if you brought Santana up a long time ago. The guy is a stud. Worst case scenario, the same amount of fans show up; well, the Dolans have plenty of money and the old "woe is me, I'm a small market team" argument is garbage. These owners get millions of dollars each year from other teams and they stuff it in their back pocket. Besides, do you think the Dolans were just given the team? You have to be loaded to buy a pro ball team. They have the money to spend, they just won't.

Which brings us back to square 1. Santana has been ready for some time, and the current catchers have no business on a big league roster. Seems pretty simple to me.

^^^Its not like we are trying to rationalize what is happening with the Indians with Dolan not spending. We all think they blow a dick and we know they have the money. We are just stating the facts. The facts are the WONT spend money and because of that they were NOT going to bring up Santana and bring his arbitration into play a year earlier.

I dont know what they are waiting for now however.

Hafner just crashed hard when he came off the sauce. That's usually the way it works.

The owner of a gym I used to train at was Mr Eastern USA. Dude could get doubles with 700 lbs on the bench and squat close to 1000. He had a little issue where he had to go cold turkey. Guy struggled to do leg extensions with 25 lbs after that. Not only do you crash but you usually can lift LESS weight than you did naturally when you come off. Pretty sad really.

Shit also weakens tendons, etc which will leave you susceptible to injury.

Crazy talk...Hafner said he never took steroids. And the one thing I know about athletes is....they never lie about that kind of stuff....

Exactly.
One day Laporta will play first, then he will sit for 2 days, then he will be in the outfield for 2 days, then back to first, bench, etc.
Its tough for a player to develop the skills necessary to succeed in the pros when he plays multiple positions and then he sits the bench for a couple days. I don't care if they like him better as an infielder or and outfielder, pick a position and let him play there.

Palmeiro looks like he should be saying "no soup for you!" to George Costanza.

Apparently they want to give Lou Marson every chance in the world to show that he was somehow worth dealing Cliff Lee over. That is the only way I could possibly justify Santana not currently being an everyday player for the Tribe. Dude is tearing up in Columbus. I love that they are trying to justify it by saying he isn't ready because of his defense. For every run he gives up on defense that Marson wouldn't, he will drive in two more runs than Marson would on offense.

Lou Marson: .200 batting average
Mike Redmond: .220 batting average

Carlos Santana: .316 batting avg, 11 HRs, 46 RBI

Which one/two should be in AAA?

Not to mention that Marson and Redmond have combined for no home runs and 12 rbis on the season. There is no logical reason for Santana to still be in AAA at this point.

It may not be that much because Chicago has been bad also, but the Indians have gone into Chicago and taken two in a row and bad or not, the White Sox lineup is formidable. Perhaps a slight glimmer of hope yet for this season. You have to keep plugging away. every victory they can get is
one less loss they will have and who knows...you just can't ever give up.
