Looking into planning a trip here at the end of june or july and wondering if anyone has been here. I know it's a gorgeous place and i've always wanted to go but not too sure on what there is to do up there?

Any help in planning a trip or suggestions on what to do would be appreciated.

Funny, I just mentioned Traverse City in another thread. Been there once to visit a client, its gorgeous. Wish I had suggestions, but I am sure you will love it (lots of vineyards, restaurants, pubs, etc).

fantastic stop...was lucky enough to pass through there a few years ago during their 'Cherry Festival', it was July i think, and uncharacteristically cold the year that i was there...but very fun and beautiful on the lake.

go.

Beautiful city. Most of the things to do around there are in the line of hiking trails just outside of town, stuff in the bay, or any of the great restaurants in town. Great place to find good food! The mom and pop places have some fantastic stuff, and if you are there during the cherry season, then it's even better. :)

Wonderful city. I second possibly hiking around just outside the city, lots of great places to spend an afternoon/day.

When I was there, went to this amazing Italian Restaurant called Trattoria Stella that used to be an old psychiatric hospital ... very cool vibe, and the food is amazing. Went there with clients, and I guess the chef is a celebrity there and an award-winner:

There is a lake in between Traverse City and Lake Charlevoix called Torch Lake that is AMAZING. The water is the most beautiful azure blue you have ever seen. You almost feel like you are in the Carribean it's sooooo blue and clean. (It's ranked the 3rd most beautiful lake in the WORLD by National Geographic for a reason and it's right at Ohio's back door)!!!!! Only takes about 4 hours or so from the Ohio/Michigan boarder. WELL WORTH IT!!!!!

Been that way when I was a kid but that was a long time ago. I think we did the Bear Dunes and camped out in the UP near Houghton Lake.

I have a cottage about 30 miles west of Traverse. Absolutely beautiful area. Make sure you go to the Sleeping Bear Dunes. It is a blast, and a tough but fun hike. Also you can drive into Honor (which is where my cottage is) and go to the Cherry Bowl Drive-In movie theater. It is awesome. They play all the classic 50s and sixties intros, and play family friendly new movies. A lot of fun. If you are a fisherman the Betsie River is a great trout stream, and there is tones of other great fishing up there. You may also want to look into canoeing. There is a great canoe trip you can do down the Little Platte River to Lake Michigan. PM me with any questions about this info! have a good trip.

If you go in September, you can catch the next crop of up-and-coming NHL stars as well.
